Sampdoria vs Cesena by Enzo
Even though they weren't favorited in front of visiting Milan last weekend, Sampdoria still remained undefeated in a 1:1 draw. They were first to take the lead in 58th minute via Soriano, while the hosts replied in 74th minute via de Jong. It has to be said, that the hosts from Milano were more active side during the game and perhaps have deserved a bit more out of it.
In any way, team of Sinisa Mihajlovic continued with their more than decent season, as the side has only five defeats in whole season, last then Lazio or Napoli for example. Coming back to their own ground where the team remains undefeated for the whole season having 7-7-0 record, there is no other objective for them but to try to get all three points against much weaker Cesena. Central defender Vasco Regini returns after serving a suspension in previous round, while the team continues to miss full back Fabrizio Cacciatore (10/0). Right back Lorenzo De Silvestri (25/2) is doubtful, while the team surely continues to play with three forwards in front of their fans, probably by using Eto'o, Eder and Okaka upfront.
Cesena, on the other side, continued their relegation battle with a narrow 0:1 loss to Chievo last weekend. It was a great chance for the team to defeated someone who is close to relegation battle in front of their own fans, but they simply showed that they aren't yet up to the task. In a very defensive setup, they didn't manage to do much upfront.
On the other side, players of Chievo were waiting for their chance and had couple of great chances during the game, finally scoring a goal in 82nd minute via Pellissier, while there was no enough time left for the hosts to reply, but they anyway didn't have the energy left for that. This was fifth consecutive game for Cesena with no victory, as the team remained third from the bottom, having currently seven points less than first safely placed side Atalanta. In case something doesn't change quickly, there is no doubt that the team will play in Serie B next season. Offensive midfielder Carlos Carbonero (17/1) is suspended for this game, while the team misses number of injured players. Forward Guido Marilungo (8/1) is injured, same as midfielder Nico Pulzetti (9/1) and couple of more less notable players. Doubtful are forward Gregoire Defrel (26/6), left back Francesco Renzetti (17/0) and midfielder Luigi Giorgi (22/0).
Momentum is completely with Sampdoria here, while there is nothing that would favor Cesena except the fact that the team needs points. Weakened without few important players, I can't see them staying competitive in this match for too long.
