Salernitana vs Vicenza by Enzo
Salernitana suffered narrow 1:0 defeat away to Novara last weekend, even though the team overall didn't look that poor. Only goal was scored back in seventh minute via Sansone, as the home team had a bit more of the ball possession, but weren't threatening from that moment on, however neither jeopardized a lot in front of their own goal.
Players of Salernitana have two points (two draws) out of three rounds, however it's obvious that they'll need to rely on their home matches, since the team looked much better in their only home game against Verona 1:1 at the start of September. The team escaped relegation last season with additional matches against Lanciano and their goal is to avoid similar situation this time. The team is reasonably stronger this season and should be able to avoid all kind of relegation troubles. Home team has no fresh injury nor suspension worries and their coach will be able to field up his best starting eleven.
After two rounds without a point earned, Vicenza managed to snatch a draw in a home goalless game against Bari last weekend. Overall, it was a very defensive game from both teams and even though the hosts had more of the ball possession, they did barely nothing in attack, while players of Bari were oriented to counter attacks, but also doing close to nothing in their offensive phases.
As for their two previous matches, they lost to Spal 3:0 on the road and to Carpi 2:0, being quite harmless in attack and with childlish mistakes in defense. They remain at the rock bottom position with one point earned so far and being the only team that is yet to score. Vicenza had a solid previous season being quite away from the promotional positions, while the team escaped relegation trouble with four points more than the teams that played in play-out matches. Similar expectations are with this season and no doubt that they'll need to improve in order to avoid relegation battle.
Vicenza Calcio, on the other side, will miss defender D'Elia (1/0), but also midfielder Urso and forward Giacomelli, who both didn't perform so far in the new season being injured.
Salernitana is not promotional material, but the team has all the chances to get a victory here. Visitors didn't score in previous four matches and I don't see it being any easier tonight for them. Easy or difficult, Salernitana should get the victory and that bet remains my first option.
