Rotherham vs Newcastle by Shibby
Championship action again for me, another game I will be attending. The game will be played at the New York Stadium and will kick off at 15:00. The hosts Rotherham United will welcome promotion favourites Newcastle United.
This game is one of the stand out games in the Championship for punters. Everyone I've spoken to about this weeks top bets it all seems to be going on a Newcastle win. This comes as no surprise to me, especially after their last game vs Norwich on Wednesday when they came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 very late on! This will have given them a huge amount of confidence and will no doubt ensure they head into the game today as hot favourites.
The form of Rotherham is the exact opposite, they have been playing quite well, however, the results just have not been going our way. A lot of the fans are booing at the end of each game and already calling for the head of manager Alan Stubbs, do I agree with this...Not really. I know he hasn't got the results we would have liked, however, I think like anyone in a new job, you just need a little bit of time.
Rotherham are currently bottom of the league and have just 6 points from their first 10 games. This isn't a great run rate and they haven't won since their 1-0 victory against Brentford back in August. September has been a bad month. A month that has seen Rotherham draw 2 games and lose 3. What stands out to me is the effort of the Rotherham players, they start games so well and would easily be 2 or 3-0 up after 30 minutes. However, missed chances cost us dearly. The opponents then attack us and we sit back and often concede.
Rotherham have scored at least once in their last 5 games, their goals for and against in the last 5 games stand at; F8 A12. So there is often goals, especially at the New York stadium. Rotherham are likely to make a couple of minor changes, however, I don't think he will change the way we have been playing. Therefore, I think we will score at least once here today.
I know Newcastle are a good team, however, they do look sloppy in defence at times and don't look like a team that will keep to many clean sheets. I think they will stick with the team that beat Norwich on Wednesday. That gives Rotherham an extra day to recover and prepare for the game today. Rafa Benetez has been given time after their poor start, he seems to have turned things around at the club and they look like a solid side.
I think Rotherham will start well and I expect there to be goals in today's clash. I think that a price of 1.83 with Marathonbet is a great price for over 2.5 goals. Therefore, I'll be backing that, good luck all.
