Roma vs Chievo by Enzo
Roma entered good period and had some really decent results, however the team didn't manage to walk away with something in their previous game when the team visited league leaders from Juventus and stood defeated with a 1:0 narrow result. Only goal was scored really early into the game, in fourteenth minute via Higuain, as the players of Roma had more of the ball possession, but not many chances created.
On the other side, Juventus was much more concrete and created more, even though they didn't control the ball much, but early lead allowed them to stay behind the ball and try via counter attacks, while their defensive lineup stood well again. This defeat broke a run of three victories in Serie A for Roma, as the team remained second at the table but now having seven points less than Juventus and maybe even more important, just a point more than fourth placed Lazio or just three more than sixth placed Atalanta.
Roma is set to play in 4-2-3-1 formation with Dzeko as central striker, plus Perotti, Nainggolan and Salah as offensive midfielders. Mohamed Salah made a great return to the fitness and should start here. Right back Alessandro Florenzi (9/0) is injured, while questionable for this match remain defensive midfielder Daniele De Rossi, as well as midfielder Leandro Paredes and defender Kostas Manolas.
Chievo, on the other side, seems to be in a really decent run now, since the team comes from third straight game in Serie A where they didn't suffer a loss. On contrary, after their goalless draw at home against Genoa couple of weeks ago, players of Chievo managed to secure two consecutive victories, firstly away from home against Palermo 2:0, but then in front of own fans against Sampdoria last weekend with a 2:1 result.
They had great entrance in the first half and took the lead in ninth minute via Meggiorrini, while Pellissier scored the second goal from the penalty kick towards the end of the halftime. Visitors tried to react and held more of the ball possession, especially in the second halftime, missing some really decent chances and only managing to reduce the deficit in fourth minute of additional time via Schick. Overall, visiting side probably deserved something more out of the match here, but the team will need to improve their final touch. Chievo, on the other side, continues to be in the middle of the table with twenty-five points earned, far away from relegation worries and can play next matches much more relaxed.
Visitors from Verona are set to play in 4-3-1-2 formation with Meggiorini and Pellissier as forwards, plus Birsa as offensive midfielder just behind their backs. Left back Massimo Gobbi (15/1) is injured, as well as important midfielder Perparim Hetemaj (12/0).
- Roma have won their last 11 home matches (Serie A).
- Roma have kept a clean sheet in 7 of their last 8 home matches against Chievo.
Roma needs to respond here and get back to the winning ways, while Chievo did over perform maybe a bit in previous couple of matches. I still see visiting side coming here in a good mood and being very threatening and I see odds of both teams scoring a goal, but Roma prevailing in the end being more than valuable here.
