Roda vs Twente by Meese
Despite a decent performance last weekend, Roda won't be too disappointed with a point taken away to Den Haag, since the team was losing twice and finally, managed to secure a point with a late goal in last ten minutes of the match. Overall, it was quite a equal game from both ends, but the hosts were somehow more efficient and were scoring goals easier. They opened up the scoreline in 20th minute thanks to goal from Jansen, while van Hyfte leveled up just before the halftime whistle.
Hosts once against took the lead, this time in 53rd minute via Derijck, but the visitors were pushing for their equalizer and were finally awarded for their fighting spirit in 81st minute when Peterson sealed the final result. This was four straight undefeated game for Roda, since the side previously drew at home against Ajax, but also won narrowly over Excelsior and Utrecht, making quite a decent run at the moment. As for now, they are at thirteenth position, being five points above relegating worried Excelsior and there is no odubt that the team wants to continue in positive way in order to escape from relegation battle as soon as possible. Defensive midfielder Rostyn Griffiths (17/2) and forward Tomi Juric (9/4) both remain absent through injury. Roda actually has no fresh injury nor suspension worries. Roda should be playing in 4-4-2 formation with Duinen and Poepon as strikers.
With three victories and two defeats, Twente is also having a decent start in the second part of the season, especially when comparing to their performances and results in the first part. Most recently, they come from victories over Utrecht at home 3:1 and last weekend, on the road against Heerenveen 3:1 as well. It was one of their best performances so far in the season away from home, since they looked really threatening and creative, moving the ball very well in the midfield. Moreover, they conceded first, in 13th minute via Veerman, but managed to reply in 40th via Uvini.
Their hosts stood playing with a man less in 69th minute, fact that was exploited in a great way near the end of the match when the visitors managed to net two more goals, via Cabral and Ziyech. Even though playing with a man more in last twenty minutes helped them a lot, the team anyway looked better and might have taken all three points even without that "help". They now have improved the form, are looking well at the moment and will surely try to use the momentum and detach themselves from the relegation zone furthermore - currently at 14th position with three points more than Excelsior. Guests will probably be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Azzouzi as their number nine. Central defender Georgios Katsikas (3/0), left full back Stefan Thesker (1/0) and forward Jari Oosterwijk (14/3) are all injured.
Twente will go into this one with a boosted morale and surely looking to get their third consecutive victory. They are now moving away from the relegation zone and no doubt that the team will try here with a bit more offensive approach. Roda, on the other side, is undefeated in their last four league matches but still coming into this one with a pressure to win. Over goals is what I expect and find valuable here, since three goals can easily be scored already after the first halftime.
