Roda vs Den Haag by Meese
Roda started terribly in the new season having no victory in first eight rounds in Eredivisie, but the team bounced back with much better performance last weekend when they got the three pointer away to Excelsior with a narrow 1:0 victory. They were underdogs prior the game and even though the ball possession was shared and the teams had similar number of chances, players of Roda were awarded for their fighting spirit thanks to a goal from Boysen in 56th minute. Hosts tried to respond from that moment on, however without doing much of concrete things in attack till the end of the game.
After this three pointer taken, Roda now stands in the relegation zone together with two more teams with six points, which is just a point below safely placed Willem II. Team has three consecutive defeats in front of own fans and without scoring in previous three, so the ambitions here is finally to break the bad run and continue with positive performances which would move them away from the relegation zone.
Hosts should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Paulissen as striker. They continue to miss right defender Martin Milec (4/0), central defender Frederic Ananou (5/0) and forward Simon Church (6/0) plus couple of more who didn't anyway play so far.
Den Haag, on the other side, continued with poor performances, since the team comes from fifth consecutive defeat last weekend losing to Ajax at home 0:2. Truth to be told, nobody expected them to be a real match to way more superior side, as the team looked quite passive for all ninety minutes, while the visitors from Amsterdam simply did what was needed in order to obtain all three points.
At the same time, they were much more concrete, deserving the victory thanks to goals from Klaasen in 20th and Traore in 52nd minute, lowering down the tempo later on since they were satisfied with the lead. It's obvoius that Den Haag is close to all kinds of problems, since the team has five defeats in a row after their great start and three victories and a draw in first four rounds. They are now in the middle of the table, tenth at the moment, four points behind the play-off zone, but also four points above the relegating fighting teams and their direction is yet to be determined. Visiting side will be missing defensive midfielder/left back Aaron Meijers (7/0) and Dion Malone (no performance so far).
- Roda have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 home matches against ADO Den Haag.
Roda couldn't wish for much better opponent this time. Hosts are coming from a morale boosting victory, while players of Den Haag are nowhere good their good form, coming from five consecutive defeats. Momentum is completely with the home team and I also believe that they are closer to obtain all three points, even though the draw can't be excluded and I'm more than willing to go against the current odds trend.
