Rennes vs Lorient by Lucien
Rennes is in a really good momentum right now, since the team has a run without defeat of four matches overall, having three victories out of these four games. In the most recent game, they managed to get all three points away from home against Nantes, which was a bit surprising result.
Hosts looked a bit better inside the first halftime and managed to take the lead just before the halftime whistle with a goal from Sala, while the visitors looked more concrete during the second halftime. They managed to overturn the result thanks to two goals from Grosicki, but without impressing much - still, it was more than enough for the visitors to take all three points. After this victory, Rennes is now sharing the fifth position together with Guingamp, being only three points below third placed PSG that leads to Champions League. Defensive midfielder Clement Chantome (1/0) and striker Habib Habibou (no performance so far in the season) continue to be injured, while the hosts should have no real fresh injury worries, but might rotate for this game.
So early in the season with only ten rounds played so far, players of Lorient are in all kinds of problems. They only have two victories inside ten rounds, which puts then at the rock bottom position together with Nancy, already having four points less than safely placed Montepllier and few other teams.
Maybe even more worrying is the fact that they have scored only six goals so far in ten rounds, which is second worst attack in the league after Nancy. In the most recent game, the team suffered narrow 1:0 defeat away from home against Dijon, which was their third consecutive defeat. However, this time they weren't that bad, but the players of Dijon exploited lack of concentration during the last minute of the game and managed to score the winner in first minute of additional time via Loties. Central defender Lindsay Rose (3/0) is injured, as well as right full back Pape Paye (no performance so far in the season) and left winger Sylvain Marveaux (1/0). No doubts that they will also rotate the squad.
Rennes is in much better form at the moment and there's no doubt that the momentum and atmosphere is completely on their side. Additionally, hosts have way deeper squad and are able to rotate much more for this one. Easy or hard, they should be able to obtain a victory here inside the ninety minutes.
