Rennes vs Bordeaux by Lucien
Rennes is having pretty much disappointing season for now, but the side did improve in last two rounds managing to escape from the bottom of the table and relegation zone with two consecutive victories, but also to improve their atmosphere inside the locker room overall.
After a narrow home victory over Lille two weeks ago, the side managed to surprise Montpellier away from home taking a victory with the same narrow result. Only goal came in 59th minute via Llamas, as the visiting side despite having more of the ball possession, still was lucky to take all three points since Montpellier was the one who created more and looked more dangerous overall. Rennes is now in the middle of the table but with just two points more than relegating placed Strasborug and surely aiming to continue the momentum searching for their second victory at home in the season.
Forward Ismaila Sarr (7/1) is injured, same as defensive midfielder Sanjin Prcic (4/0). Defender N. Diallo (0/0), central back Mexer (3/0), midfielders Yoann Gourcuff (0/0) and Morgan Amalfitano (6/0) are both doubtful with some chances to get involved. Home team is set to play in 4-2-3-1 formation with Mubele as central striker, but also with Maouassa, Brandon and Hunou as offensive midfielders.
Bordeaux, on contrary somehow, had a decent start in the season but now failed down at the table since the team has recorded three defeats in last four rounds getting only a point in these four at home against Nantes. In the most recent game, they suffered 0:2 defeat in front of own fans against Monaco last Saturday afternoon.
The side gave decent fighting to much more favorited visiting side and looked decent in attack, however the visitors upped their tempo at the start of the second halftime and it was enough for them to get a victory, scoring goals via Keita in 57th and Lemar in 65th minute to celebrate a victory. As said, they dropped down the table and are now five points behind Europa League placed Marseille needing to improve the situation.
Midfielder Lukas Lerager (11/1) is suspended, while injured remain forward Gaetan Laborde (5/0) and defender Kounde who anyway didn't play so far. They should be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Malcom, Preville and Kamano as forwards.
- Bordeaux are undefeated in their last 12 matches against Rennes.
Both teams will be going into this match in order to get a victory. Rennes surely wants to continue with their momentum, however they had two quite lucky matches against sides that didn't show much in attack. Bordeaux should be completely different story and this one could easily be as open as possible.
