Reims vs Laval by Lucien
As most of professional teams, Reims didn't have a very difficult job last weekend, when the team won over St Maximin 3:0 away from home in Coupe de France game. They entered the game very strongly and were having a double lead already after fifteen minutes of play, thanks to goals from Charbonier and Berthier, while Balde during the additional time of the first halftime.
Apart from that, team also comes from two consecutive victories in Ligue 2, since they won over Le Havre 1:0 at home and 2:1 on the road to Strasbourg in the most recent game played in Ligue 2. Afte these two victories, thet team remained at the second position at the table with seven victories, five draws and two defeats, being two points behind leaders from Brest and just a point above out of play-off placed sides, meaning that not only this, but every home game for them remains a must win situation. Midfielders Antoine Devaux (1/0) and Frederic Bulot are missing from the start of the season, while back Julian Jeanvier (13/3) is fresh injured one.
Laval, on the other side, struggled a lot in their Coupe de France match, since they took only a 2:1 victory at home over Concarneau last weekend. Moyo brought them into the lead in 32nd minute, but the visiting side replayed in 56th via Id Azza, while the guests stood well in the defense all the way till second minute of injury time when Bayard sealed the victory for the home team.
Still, the development of that match wasn't much of a surprise since the players of Concarneau have a really good season so far and are standing first in the National (third level) league. On the other side, Laval suffered 2:0 defeat at home against Le Havre week before, playing quite a defensive game with very little things done in attack. After this match, they remained inside the relegation zone with eleven points earned, just a point more than rock bottom placed Auxerre.
There are no doubts for me that the players of Reims are in way better form and obviously more stronger as a team. With the help of their fans, this should be another victory for them, even easier than what the current odds suggest.
