Real Madrid vs Bilbao by Jimeno
After four consecutive draws, Real Madrid bounced back with a impressive performance last weekend away to Real Betis when the team walked away with a 6:1 victory. Everything went in their way from the fourth minute when Varane brought them into the lead, while Benzema, Isco and Marceo added one each till the halftime whistle.
Cejudo only managed to reduce the deficit in 55th minute, but Isco and Ronaldo sealed the final victory later on. Team was finally deadly effective and showed how they should approach the games against less reputable opponents. They broke a streak of three draws with this victory, while the team currently holds the first position together with Atletico Madrid, at the same time only three points above sixth placed Atheletic Bilbao. Team improved their effiency in Champions League as well, coming from 5:1 home win over Legia few days ago.
Midfielders Casemiro (3/0) and Luka Modric (4/1) are injured, as well as central defender Sergio Ramos (6/2).
Athletic Bilbao, on the other side, continued their good form in Primera last weekend when the team managed to get a three pointer at home over Real Sociedad following 3:3 victory. The game itself wasn't easy at all for the players of Bilbao, even though it could be said that the team alone deserved a bit easier victory than what the final result says.
Visitors took the lead in sixteenth minute with a goal from Zurutuza, but the hosts replied just well, dominating and controlling the ball from that moment on, improving their final touch in the second halftime and taking the victory thanks to goals from Munian, Aduriz and Williams. Visitors were only able to reduce the deficit towards the end of the game with a goal from Martinez. This was fourth victory for Bilbao in last five matches, as they currently stand at sixth position, three points less than leading duo from Madrid, as already said. The team sufferd 2:0 defeat away to Genk last Thursday evening, narrowich their chances for now of progressing further in Europa League.
Defender Mikel Balenziaga (7/1) is suspended, while defender Oscar de Marcos (7/0) remains injured. Doubtful for this game are goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (4/0) and defender Yerai Alvarez (4/0).
There is no doubt that Real is complete favorite in this one and should get the victory. However, I definitely see players of Bilbao making an impact here and scoring as well. Odds are prety decent having in mind that Real conceded in last six matches they played in all competitions.
