Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid by Jimeno
Real Madrid had a completely deserved victory over Malaga last weekend at home, as the team took all three points with a 3:1 victory. Defender Ramos opened the lead in 24th minute, while Rodriguez increased the lead in 69th minute, two minutes after Ronaldo has missed a penalty shot. Two minutes later, Malaga managed to reduce the deficit, but that was all the visitors could do.
On the other side, hosts sealed the victory with a goal in last moments of the game via Ronaldo. Malaga scoring goal was one of rare things the visitors did up-front, as they were generally limited to a passive role and the victory of Real was completely fair in every aspect of the game. With this three pointer, they continued chasing Barcelona being still two points behind them, but with everything open in their title race. Back to Champions League, they turn all of their focus to tonight's game against Atletico after first leg's goalless draw in which Real looked much more concrete and should only confirm it tonight. Left defender Marcelo (35/1) is suspended for tonight's game, while the hosts continue to miss Luka Modric and Gareth Bale as they both picked up injuries against Malaga.
Atletico Madrid, on the other side, comes from a 1:2 difficult victory away to Deportivo La Coruna last on Saturday evening. Griezmann scored both goals early in the first halftime, in 5th and 22nd minute, while the guests lowered down the tempo since then, trying to save their energy as much as possible for the upcoming game tonight.
They ran into some problems in the second half, with the hosts reducing to 2:1 via Riera in 78th and were pushing for an equalizer. Anyhow, the team remained at third position, now having six points more than fourth placed Valencia (due Valencia's loss away to Barcelona) and they can once again feel comfortable regarding their direct ticket to Champions League next season being six points ahead their closest follower. Difficult job is ahead of them, as they barely stood with a goalless draw in the first leg, but no doubt that the team has their own quality and knows how to play on counter attacks away from home. Defensive midfielder Mario Suarez (19/1) is suspended, while striker Mario Mandzukic had some problems, but will overcome till the kick off.
Game of extreme importance for both sides. There is no doubt that the game will be difficult as hell, but I believe that the players of Real Madrid, led by their own fans can give an extra effort here and prove that they are more experienced in huge games like this one will be. True that the bet might be a gamble, but the odds are too big in my eyes.
