Reading vs Ipswich by Shibby
Championship action on a Friday night is becoming a regular thing now, something I enjoy watching. Tonight’s game (11/09/2015) will see Reading host Ipswich Town in a 20:00 kick off. The game will be played at the Madejski Stadium in Reading.
The home side currently sit in 13th place in the league on 6 points from 5 games. They’ve not started the season as well as many would have thought. However, there is still plenty of time to turn things around, which they seem to have started to do after their emphatic 3-1 victory over Brentford on 29/08/2015. The Royals would have been very happy with the result as Brentford are usually a solid team to beat at home.
The game was quite a heated one which saw the referee issue 7 yellow cards. The game played until the 99th minute which is the same minute that Nick Blackman scored his 2nd goal of the night from the penalty spot. Reading head into the game in good form, the game before they also beat League Two side Portsmouth 2-1 in the cup. So 2 wins on the bounce for Reading. Nick Blackman should keep his place, however, I expect manager Clarke to give a start to Vydra.
The visitors head into tonight’s game as the outsiders for some reason, Ipswich are a great price if you fancy them to win. They have also been in good form prior to the International break, however, their last game was their first defeat of the season, they lost 3-2 to league leaders Brighton at home. The visitors (Brighton) took a very early lead and found themselves 2-0 up after just 12 minutes?! They seemed to be in dreamland, however, Sears and McGoldrick pulled 2 early 2nd half goals back for Ipswich and pulled the game level…Well it was level for around 2 minutes, Hemed restored Brighton’s lead and that’s how the game finished (3-2).
Prior to that defeat Ipswich had won 5 games in a row, they seem to be playing very well. Them and QPR are the leagues leading scorers with 10 goals from 5 games. The gaffer, Mick McCarthy has done a great job at the club and I’m sure they will have a successful season. Ipswich have defender Berra available after he recovered from his injury. Ipswich are currently 3rd in the league, just 3 points and 1 goal off leaders Brighton. So I expect McCarthy to set his team out to avoid defeat.
This game should be a good one, however, I often see many “great games” straight after the International break. I think Reading are the favourites for the game, however, I don’t think Ipswich are going to back down to easily. For some reason I can see a 1-1 draw, I think a 1-1 draw suits both clubs and I’m sure both managers will be happy with a point. You can back Ipswich/Draw double chance at 1.70 with BetVictor. However, I’ll be taking a risk instead and going for a draw @ a price of 3.39 with Pinnacle. Good luck all.
