Ranheim vs Raufoss by 20Legend
Ranheim struggled for a long time in the lower part of the table and looked like they could be relegated. However, one of the most variable teams in the league has finally managed to find their level as a team that belongs in this league. The timing could not be more perfect either as it is only three games left of the season. The club is not safe yet with their 10th place and 34 points as it is six points down to direct relegation. However, it should be a lot going wrong and today’s opponent should be beaten in order to take a long step towards another season in OBOS-Ligaen.
Their last game against Fredrikstad (1-7) was a truly demonstration of what this team are capable of when they perform at their best. The problem is that Ranheim shows it way too rarely in order to take the last step and qualify for Tippeligaen. With that being said, nothing could be taken away from the last performance against one of the in-form teams in the league. Ranheim enjoyed full control from the first kick of the ball and their top scorer Robert Stene (27/17) showed how important he is to the club once again. With a hat trick in the first half and Fredrikstad got a man sent off, it became pretty clear who were the better team. Stene continued his run in the second half with his fourth goal while Fredrikstad had more than enough with just defending. Ranheim continued to push for more goals and finished the game with three goals within the last 15 minutes. It was Ranheim’s best performance by far this season even with if three of the goals came after penalties.
It is not much new to write about Raufoss as 2nd Division is calling again for the newcomers. The team had a positive start, but it became clear quite early that the team was not good enough for this league. 5-3-19 and 18 points in 27 games says it all about their performances. There has been some good games in between all the poor once though, but it is some time ago now with six straight defeats to their name.
They do not give up on trying to do their best though as their last match against Kongsvinger (2-4) really showed. Kongsvinger had to win in order to fight for a place among the important top six, while Raufoss stepped up and lead twice at halftime (1-0 and 2-1). However, the team became tired as the game progressed which gave Kongsvinger the complete initiative. It seemed like Raufoss went out of air when they made a penalty after 65 minutes. Kongsvinger equalized and killed the game with two back-to-back goals shortly after.
An important factor towards this game is that several of their regular players helped Raufoss 2 to three points in order to fight for staying up in 3rd Division. 1st Keeper Ole Krisitan Lauvli (21 games), defender Aaron Jones (11/1), midfielder Krisitan Ovenstad (23/0), striker Evandro Roncatto (3/0), midfielder Martin Heiberg (0/0) and striker Ole Thomas Skogli (5/0) joined the team bus towards Ranheim right after they had played the game yesterday. In addition striker Magnus Solum (8/1) and midfielder Sanchez (18/1) are injured, while midfielder Havard Nome (23/2) and striker Simen Naess (24/4) are highly doubtful.
Ranheim comes from two wins that include as real demonstration against Fredrikstad two weeks ago. Their confidence should be high and the players should be motivated to taking three important points to stay away from the question of relegation. Raufoss is already relegated and has changed focus into keeping their second team up in the 3rd Division. With several players playing back-to-back games and regular players being injured, it should be difficult to keep up with Robert Stene and the rest of the home team. I expect Ranheim to cover the handicap despite being variable in their performances.
