PSG vs Bordeaux by Lucien
PSG couldn't start the season in a much better way, but they already got used on winning the domestic titles, while the club remains desperate to do something more achieve better result in Champions League which surely remains their biggest target along with winning the Ligue 1. Their season has started with a 2:0 victory against Lyon in French Super Cup, where the team already showed that they are ready for the new season, but continued in the same manner in rest of matches dureing August. Their league has stated with four consecutive victories, but the most important one earned in the previous game away to Monaco.
Surely that this game was the most difficult since the start of the league, at least looking the teams quality on the paper (previously won away to Lille and Montpellier, addinga home victory over GFC Ajaccio, but the team looked solid and probably had their best game till now in the season. They were dominating and had huge percentage of ball possession from the earliest part of the game, deservedly breaking opponents defense three times in the second half - via Cavani twice (in 57th and 73rd minute), while Lavezzi sealed the three pointer seven minutes before the end. Surely that their target for this game is getting another victory, but the team has to be aware not to think about their Champions League opener next week a lot against Malmo at home. Their South American trio Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria remained at the training ground during international break, so no doubt that they are now all fully fit. Striker Zlatan Ibahimovic (1/0) is questionable for this one, while doubtful are also offensive midfielder Javier Pastore (3/0) and left back Layvin Kurzawa (3/1).
Bordeaux isn't having a good start in Ligue 1, but the team managed to improve the current situation with a victory at home against Nantes 2:0 before going to international break. This was only their first victory this season in Ligue 1, while the team managed also to progress to Europa League group stage by defeating AEK Larnaca in third round and surviving Kairat Almaty in the play-off round due to away goal rule.
As said, in the previous game they won at home against Nantes, being way more dominant and missing a penalty kick few minutes before Khazri brought them into the lead in additional time of first halftime, while the teams got even easier for them once Lenjani, player of Nantes, got excluded in 51st minute due to straight red card given. Gajic netted second from the distance in 87th minute to seal first three pointer for a home side. They actually did well in first two games away from home, but have rather difficult opponents as they snatched a draw away to St Etienne and Lille, this time going completely relaxed against Parisians, as nobody expects them to do anything. Their failure to get a bit better result at the start of Ligue 1 can be justified with the fact that they had busy schedule being involved in EUropa League matches, so the team might easily look a bit better in this one after having an internationl pause. They are still without several key players as the team continues to miss Jaroslav Plasil, Thomas Toure, Gregory Sertic and Cheick Diabata, while suspended are midfielder Clement Chantome and central defender Cedric Yambere, both due to accumulation of yellow cards.
Bordeaux is already used on playing without so many players, so this is not a new thing for them. PSG remains huge favorites for this game, however I believe both teams to score has plenty of value this time. It's just a matter of time when the Parisians will concede their first goal and it could be here, since Bordeaux really has nothing to lose and can play relaxed while they surely do have enough quality to net once in Paris.
