Preston vs Rochdale by Luke
Preston come into this game from a 1:1 draw away from home against Fleetwood Town, although they had a lead from the ninth minute of the match with a goal from Johnson and kept it till last five minutes of the game. However, they conceded the equalizer in last five minutes of the game, staying only to a point earned even though they had all the chances to secure all three points in this game.
However, the positive thing is that the team remained undefeated for last eleven matches, having also two consecutive draws, while the team maintained minimum safety distance from the third position which now remains four points, as the team still remains a favorite to clinch the direct promotion. Coach Grayson has spoken about two previous matches, saying that the team missed many chances to clean up the game and perhaps end this two games with four point more, as they still have good self confidence and manage to create number of goalscoring chances during the matches. Offensive players Robinson (20/6) is set to return to the starting lineup after playing at international game, while the team also welcomes back defensive Wright (22/1) and defender Wiseman (28/2). Defender Huntington is questionable for this game, but should recover in time.
Rochdale, on the other side, comes from a 2:1 victory at home against Yeovil, in a game where the hosts took the three pointer a bit easier than what it was expected. They had the double lead already within two minutes at the start of the second half, but the rival managed to reduce only three minutes later for the final result.
This was their fifth victory in last seven matches, as the team still remained outside of the position that lead to the play-off, however now with only with a point less than sixth placed Chesterfield. Coach Hill was pleased that his team has won the previous game, saying that they didn't play specially well, but still benefited from the mistakes their opponents did during the match. Midfielder Lund (17/2) is still absent due injury, same as offensive player/forward Andrew (33/5) and defender Rafferty (33/1). Moreover, midfielder Dawson, Allen and Vincent are all three doubtful for tonight's game.
Preston is one of the best teams in the league and surely, very strong and determined side in front of their own fans. Odds on their victory are satisfying enough and everything except a home win here should be a really big surprise.
