Portimonense vs Setubal by Jimeno
Portimonense had a very interesting previous game in Primeira Laegue on Monday evening and a 3:3 draw taken against Guimaraes. Even though the final result is a positive one since the players of Guimaraes looked like favorites before the game, visitors can't be nowhere near satisfied since they had the 3:0 lead after thirty minutes of play (goals scored by Nakajima in 16th, Fabricio in 19th and Sa in 30th minute), they in the end stood with just a point earned thanks to two goals conceded in last ten minutes of the match.
After this draw, players of Portimomense remained being in the second part of the table, currently at fourteenth position with just two points more than relegating placed Moreirense and still being nowhere close to safe side so far. Their biggest problems remains with the fact that they concede way too much (twenty goals so far), but in their defense, the side is more effective than most of the teams placed in upper part of the league. During the midweek, they suffered 1:2 defeat to Setubal in League Cup competition and are surely awaiting a revenge in more important competition now.
Home team could be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Nakajim and Wellington on the wings, plus Fabricio as central striker. Forward Chidera Ezeh (2/0) is still injured, same as midfielders Tabata (no performance so far), Ewerton (7/0) and right back Ricardo Pessoa who has some chances of getting ready till the kick off.
Setubal, still on the other side, finally managed to get a victory last Saturday evening in a Primeira Liga game at home against Maritimo in a 3:1 win, which was their first in league after three consecutive matches, having a draw and two defeats.
After this victory, the team is now at 12th position for the moment, having four more than relegating placed Moreirense, but still with weak away record since they have just a point in first four outings this season. Combined with Cup and League Cup competition, they are on a positive streak of three victories, since the team previously won on the road against amateur side Pinhalnovense 1:2 after extra-time played and are coming from already mentioned League Cup victory on Thursday night against their opponents today, thanks to the fact that they stood playing with ten players since 72nd and with two late goals (Edinho from penalty) and Paciencia in 89th minute.
Visitors should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Paciencia as central striker, but also with Costinha, Amaral and Teixeira as offensive midfielders. Forward Yannick Djalo (no performance so far in the season) remains injured, while out are also right back Patrick Oliveira (1/0) and left back Nuno Pinto (7/1).
- Portimonense have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 4 home matches against Vitoria de Setubal.
- Portimonense have conceded at least 2 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches.
- Vitoria de Setubal have scored at least 2 goals in their last 4 away matches against Portimonense.
These two sides played a game just few days before and Setubal managed to take a 1:2 victory in League Cup, while we once again have more than valuable odds for over between these two. I can see this match only be more intense than the previous one and especially with the home team attacking even more. Value is with goals once again in Portimonense's matches.
