Ponte Preta vs Atletico PR by Isaiah
Ponte Preta suffered their first defeat this season, coming from a 2:0 defeat away to Fluminense just a couple of days ago. After three victories and four draws, as neither of the teams looked really threatening in the first halftime, but the players of Fluminense upped the tempo in the repetition and deservedly scored goals, via Wellington in 55th and Vinicius in fifth minute of additional time.
Players of Ponte Preta did have nice amount of ball possession, but they were limited in offensive phases and weren't as creative as usual, especially in the second half. As said, this was their first defeat, as the team now currently stands near the middle of the table with thirteen points earned, just a point less than fourth placed Atletico MG. Coach Guto Ferreira will have once again at his disposal central defender Pablo and forward Biro Biro this weekend as they both missed the previous game due suspension. Midfielder Josimar (8/0) is banned for this game and his position will probably be taken by Juninho.
Neither Atletico PR finished their previous match in much better style, as the team were held to a draw against Coritiba in 2:2 game at home few days ago. Despite being slightly better, the team was down twice and had to search for equalizer, having no time later on to get the third goal as well once they equalized for 2:2.
Paulista brought the visitors to a lead in 19th minute, but the hosts replied in 25th via Walter. Ruy brought Coritiba into 2:1 lead in 77th, but the hosts responded five minutes later thanks to goal from Junio. Near the end of the match, in additional time Coritiba stood playing with two men less following rough play and red cards given, which was a way for the visitors to keep up the lead. Offensive midfielder Marcos Guilherme is set to return here, after playing for Brazilian U20 national squad at World Cup held in New Zealand. Only absentee should be defensive midfielder Deivid (2/0).
Ponte Preta got defeated for the first time this season and will be surely looking to bounce back here with a three pointer. They missed couple of important players than and should be fired up for this one. However, guests aren't naive at all and will also be looking to get back to winning ways, especially since they welcome back offensive Marcos Guilherme. Open game, over goals and both teams scoring surely gather more than 50% of chances.
