Poland vs Lithuania by 20Legend

Poland has an exciting team that is heading for the European tournament in France some days from now. Lukas Piszczek, Jakub Blaszczkowski and Robert Lewandowski all take their part in an important trio that must deliver if Poland should get through an interesting group with Germany, Ukraine and Northern Ireland as the other teams. Germany is natural favorites while Ukraine can be a tough opponent as well in terms of getting the important 2nd place.

Poland is playing their final game before the tournament starts on Friday and it is probably not a randomly chosen opponent. They failed to impress during their last friendly on June 1st against Netherlands (1-2) who is rebuilding their team. Before the loss, Poland had five straight wins. It is therefore a perfect opportunity for Poland to boost their confidence as a team tonight as Lithuania is their last opponent. The Polish team is sharp which they showed during their qualification for the upcoming tournament with 6-3-1 and 33:10 on goal difference from their 10 games. They have also done well in their last 10 friendlies with 5-3-2 to show for.

Lithuania is currently going through a change of generation just like many European teams are doing at this moment. It has therefore been a lot of changes going on and it can all be symbolized through their player Deividas Cesnauskis. He is the only player in this team with more than 50 matches to his belt for his country in the current squad. However, it will not be long before he also has to step down considering that he is 34 years of age. Lithuania has only one win from their last six games. They did not manage to qualify for the Euros either with only three wins from their 10 matches in the qualification group. Lithuania has not got many highlights from their friendlies either as their last win came in 2011. However, they managed to beat Estonia (2-0) in their last friendly on May 29th.

These are two teams with different a whole forms and different motivation in the near future. Poland has five wins from their last six games and surely wants to win this comfortably in order to build confidence to their first game in the Euros against Northern Ireland. Lithuania must use this game to make it most difficult for Poland to break them down, in order to show that they are no pushovers.

These teams have met 10 times earlier with Poland being the dominant team with 5-3-2 being the statistics. It is important to remember that Poland may be resting their biggest star Lewandowski tonight, in order to not take any chances before the Euros. However, Poland has a much stronger team compared to Lithuania anyway, with Milik being an interesting option as a starting striker. I expect Poland to be dominant either way in this match and I pick them to score over 2 goals (Asian Handicap) in Krakow tonight.

I wholeheartedly agree with your pick and will put my money on this one, if this does fail then there’s a big jinx upon us.

  2. Gilbert says:

Will this polish team ever score?

  3. 19 says:

^short answer is NO. Now 75 mins and still they havn’t had a single shot on goal, pathetic.

  4. Joey says:

Poland sucks. Quick exit from Euro 2016

  5. gilles says:

friendlies…, I did try with bet over on corners and it was ok, line was at 9.5 total, over @1.73, but home team might be better choice here too, to push higher odd, 10-2 in the end

  6. Dan says:

U guys don’t stop pushing goals for these ordinary teams one week before an important event. And Poland without the their one and only world class player, why?! I don’t understand the logic here, but I guess we evaluate these games in different ways.

  7. gilles says:

These friendlies are indeed not easy to bet on, but there is also good money in it…

  8. Gilbert says:

I’ll stick to your advice dan. Thanks

Another horrible performance by a team that had 14:5 on goal difference from their previous four friendlies. You could say that it is foolish to make a preview on these teams just before the Euros begins, but I certainly expect Poland to score two goals agaisnt Lithuania all year long, no matter what tournament that is coming up. I cannot beleive this poor Polish performance. They demolished Finland (5-0) just a month ago; with the same team. I guess that Ukraine will have a chance on that second place in the Euro 2016 group after all.
