Partick Thistle vs Aberdeen by 20Legend
Partick Thistle has collected a fair amount of points this season as they are in 10th place with 28 points after 23 games. With 7-7-9 to show for they are still in the race to reach a place among the top six teams with only four points up. Their main strength has been their defensive discipline with just 28 goals conceded. That is a better defensive record than today’s opponent, but their offensive quality has not been at the same level. With only 22 goals scored, it could be tough getting up higher at the table, but not if they manage to step up on that front as well. They have not played a match since February 6th as their match against Hearts got postponed last weekend.
It is looking very good in terms of injuries for them the squad is fully fit. Defender Mustapha Dumbya (15/1) was the only questionable player two weeks ago, but is expected to be back tonight.
Aberdeen has been one of the top teams for the past seasons and they are the only team to keep up with Celtic this season as well. Aberdeen is in 2nd place with 55 points, which is just three points behind Celtic. However, they have one more game played than Celtic, so the gap could possibly be a bit bigger. They are 11 points ahead of 3rd placed Hearts though, so they can fully concentrate on going upwards instead of fearing someone to chase them at this moment. 17-4-5 and 45:29 on goal difference is the facts at this point, but they took a solid hit in their last game against Inverness (3-1). That loss broke their current run of four straight wins, but it was deserved according to the reports. Aberdeen started well by taking an early lead, but Inverness made it 1-1 at halftime. The second half started terrible for Aberdeen who conceded a penalty after 50 minutes. Inverness then scored the 3-1 goal after 65 minutes which killed the game off. Their coach was not happy with their streak being broken as he stated that it was vital to continue the good trend at this stage of the season.
Midfielder Jonny Hayes (25/4) will be missing after tearing his hamstring, while midfielder Willo Flood and midfielder Ryan Jack (17/0) will be available after dealing with injuries.
Although both teams have been defensively strong this season, it is also another factor that might be in favor of few goals tonight. The pitch is reported to be in a rather difficult condition. The visitor coach stated that it might not be a game filled with beautiful play, but they want to find a way to win. I think that both the defensive form and the conditions will give a result under 2.5 goals here. Aberdeen is favorites, but the win will definitely not come easy to them as all the last five matches between these two teams have showed. All of the last five meeting has gone under that line, and nothing tells otherwise tonight given the circumstances.
