PAOK vs Panionios by Isaiah
PAOK was playing to their limits during December, but even with many problems with injuries and absences they managed to be crowned winter champions. Their latest game was away in Livadia in a match where both teams played with ten men from 23th minute. PAOK suffered a lot of pressure in the end of the match but in the end they managed to leave from Livadia with all three points.
With the current roster and a mediocre budget PAOK stands first to the table but their recent games shows that they surely need reinforcements during the January transfer window. They currently have many absences in defence that cannot be replaced by equal players, as their squad is thin at the moment. Anyway, they have a very good record at home with six wins one draw and just one defeat, they have the best home attack in the league, while seven out of all eight home matches finished with over 2.5 goals, to six of them the away team scored. Defender Tzavellas is suspended, main goalkeeper Glikos is injured, while key defender Vitor, defender Katsikas, and defensive midfielder Tziolis will all miss again due to injuries.
Panionios is coming after a draw at home with the score of 2-2 against Atromitos in a very nice game with lot of goal action. Although they stayed behind to the score twice, they found the way to equalize to both times, taking the advantage that Atromitos played with ten men during the whole second half.
Panionios is now just one point above the relegation zone and their main problem are the away games, where they only got a point till now, having a record of 0-1-6. However, with their new coach Marinos Ouzounidis on the bench count they have better results, a 2:0 win over OFI, a 2:0 defeat against Olympiakos and a 2:2 draw against Atromitos. No absences reported.
PAOK will face the game rested after taking the breaths needed, however the absences in defense are still many. Even under these circumstances, it will be very difficult for Panionios to take a result, however they recently bounced back to good results and they can score at least one goal and their attacking line is not bad at all to take advantage of PAOK's weaknesses in defense.
