Palermo vs Roma by Enzo
Palermo was very competitive in the previous game last weekend away to Fiorentina, but still were unable to get a positive result suffering a 4:3 defeat. Once again they did good in attack, but the defense betrayed them several times, suffering generally deserved loss as the players of Viola created more chances and were simply more effective.
This defeat broke a streak of nine undefeated game previously, as the team finally started playing the best they could and have climbed up at the table till tenth position now, being five points away from the European positions. At home, they have five victories, three draws and only one defeat and will surely be aiming to get a positive result here to continue their current streak of three home victories, or at least to stay undefeated. They will be fielded up in a typical 3-5-2 formation, with only player who is not fully fit for this game is forward Paulo Dybala (17/9) who is doubtful due muscular problems, but with chances to recover till the start of the game. In case he isn't fit to start - Andrea Belotti could take his position.
Roma started the previous game very sluggishly, but still managed to get a 2:2 draw in a city derby against Lazio last weekend. Visitors were much more concrete in the first halftime, scoring two goals within four minutes as Mauri in 25th and Anderson in 29th brought them into the double lead which remained till the start of the second half.
Since the re-start, it was obvious that Roma will be far better and try even to win, firstly reducing the deficit in 48th minute and then equalizing in 64th minute, both goals scored by Totti. Both teams have their chances till the end of the game, but the result remained 2:2. This was their fourth game in a row at home where the team didn't claim the victory, as they obviously are in slightly worse form in comparison to previous months. Very important midfielders Radja Nainggolan (23/3) and Daniele De Rossi (16/1) are both suspended for this game and will surely be a big blow. Central defender Leandro Castan (1/0) is injured, while the team also misses midfielders Gervinho (20/5) and Seydou Keita (19/1) who are at African Cup of Nations which means that the visitors will have only one back up option at bench for this game.
Palermo seems to be in a very decent form at the moment, especially at home where they play great attacking football. Roma, on the other side, seems to be in a slight downtrend in form and were lucky to claim some victories on the road in previous games. This time, all the value stands with the home team that has big chance to make a surprise here and stand undefeated.
