Odd vs Stabaek by 20Legend
Odd has gone through a terrible period, but a win against Lillestrom (2-4) away from home last weekend, made them still keep onto their 2nd place. 12-5-6 in total and 41 points is quite strong, but 2-2-3 is the hard facts from their last seven games. Odd has therefore invited several other teams to join them battle for coming in 2nd place this season. That was not the case earlier this summer, when the team was the only challenger to 1st placed Rosenborg.
The win against Lillestrom put them back in the driving seat for the 2nd place again, but it was far from an easy triumph. The result 2-4 is as flattering as it gets with the score being 2-2 until the 92nd minute. It was really an open game with two teams needing the three points in each end of the table. Odd’s status as an out-of-form team is still standing as their usual defensive stability from the start of the season has vanished.
Central back Fredrik Semb Berge (18/4) is out for the rest of the season. Midfielder Jone Samuelsen (14/1) is suspended, while top scorer Olivier Occean (21/8) returns after serving suspension last weekend. Winger Rafik Zekhnini (20/4) is stated as doubtful, but could make it in time according to the club’s latest update.
Stabaek is another team that fights for survival in the bottom half of Tippeligaen this season. 5-6-12 has only given 21 points which means a 15th place on the table. The good news is that it is only two points up to the secure spot that currently belongs to Lillestrom. Stabaek made a decent defensive performance against league leaders Rosenborg (0-2) last weekend.
It was only a matter of time before Rosenborg would score as they dominated the game totally, but Stabaek’s effort as a group frustrated Rosenborg for a long time. Stabaek was running a lot with just 36% ball possession in the game and they were outplayed. As the game developed, it was only a target to keep it 0-0 throughout the game, but the pressure became too big in the end. It is not reported any injuries towards the match tonight.
It should usually not be difficult to separate these two teams as Odd’s squad is far better compared to Stabaek. However, Odd is in a far more various form compared to their best period this at the moment which has left every opponent chances on goal lately. Stabaek is in a desperate situation at the moment and they are actually undefeated away in the league since May 29th (2-4-0). The risk of relegation always gives the team some extra energy and I think it is fair to pick both teams to score tonight.
