Nice vs Amiens by Lucien
In the most recent game in Ligue 1 before the holiday break, the side managed to take a point in a 1:1 draw on the road against Lille now already three weeks ago. It was overall quite a defensive game, however the guests were the ones who did more on the field and surely have deserved more than a point.
They took the lead completely deservedly in 38th minute via Srarfi, while they stood with a bit more defensive approach in second halftime and paid the price of it in 67th minute when El-Ghazi leveled up. Nice is now on a run of five matches without defeat (four victories and most recent draw), as they stand at seventh position at the moment.
After the New Year, the side suffered narrow 1:0 defeat away to Toulouse in French Coupe, but were also excluded in a 1:2 loss at home in League Cup quarter-finals game against Monaco last Tuesday evening.
Forward Mario Balotelli had some problems during the week, but should be ready for this one. Left back Christophe Jallet is doubtful, while injured remain forward Mickael Le Bihan who didn't perform so far, while also out are midfielder Arnaud Lusamba (3/0) and more important right back Arnaud Souquet (18/0).
Amiens suffered fourth consecutive defeat in Ligue 1 before the holiday's break, as the side welcomed Nantes but were outplayed once again staying with empty hands following 1:0 defeat.
The game itself looked like a balanced one, however the visiting side looked way more dangerous with the ball to their feet and somehow their chances looked more serious - finally reaching the winner in first minute of additional time via Sala.
The side is now at thirteenth position but only with two points difference in comparison to relegating placed Lille and they need to improve as soon as possible in order to avoid further relegation troubles.
Similar to their opponents, Amiens got also excluded in both Cup competitions after the New Year's even, firstly losing out away to Sochaux with a humiliating 6:0 defeat, while they were also excluded in French League Cup game at home against PSG 0:2 last Wednesday evening.
Left back Danilo Avelar is doubtful, same as forwards Lacina Traore and Quentin Cornette. Defensive midfielder Bongani Zungu (14/1) is injured, while suspended for this match remains first choice goalkeeper Regis Gurtner (19/0).
- Amiens have lost their last 4 matches (Ligue 1).
- Nice are undefeated in their last 5 matches (Ligue 1).
After two back to back defeats in Cup competitions, players of Nice will be desperate to get back on the winning track here. Amiens is far away from their good form, especially on the road where they seem to have real problems scoring any goal at all.
