Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh (By: FairPlayBet)
Battle of Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Penguins visiting Philadelphia Flyers. It's only second of the four mutual meetings in this season's series between Penguins and Flyers.
Earlier, back to December, in game played in Pittsburgh, the Flyers have won 4:2.
Usually in games between these rivals over the total is the winning bet. At least this was the case lately. Namely in last 13 mutual meetings over was successful in high 70% (7-3 in favor of over with 3 push bet).
Still, although I like over also this time, I am a little bit more confident in betting the Flyers. If I could find it at 6, I would probably go with over, but on 6.5, I'll skip the totals this time.
The Penguins for entire season plays with many ups and downs. Now it seems they are again in bad momentum cause they have lost 4 straight games. Also, from the start of the February they were changing cities game after game. This will be 4th road game in last 5. So, the Penguins have had during this period just one short stop back home for meeting with Carolina which they lost by the way, 0:4. All in all, lot of travel for Penguins lately and 5th straight ice change. I really hope Flyers could take advantage of this fact, especially since for them this is going to be 5th straight game at home.
Also, we can't skip the fact Philadelphia was playing very well lately and had run of 8 straight wins and now this team is 9-1 in last 10. Of course they'll need to work much more if want to keep their post season hopes realistic. I doubt we would see them in playoffs but who knows. After all, at this point Flyers are only 6 pts behind Pittsburgh.
One of most credited for recent Flyers' succes is their rookie goalie, Carter Hart. He is in 8 games long winning streak. His season numbers are 11-5-1, 2.44 GAA and 0.926 SV%. Since Flyers are in injury problems with their goaltenders, the rookie is confirmed to start again today.
Hopefully he'll have another great game. Beside Carter Hart on the goal, also up front Sean Couturier and captain Claude Giroux are doing great job for Philadelphia.
On the other side Murray is not confirmed yet to start on goal for Pittsburgh. He is day to day. Also one of better players, Malkin is day to day.
Overall in the season, Philadelphia is 14-14 at home while Pittsburgh is 13-15 on the road.
The bottom line, you never know in games like this one but given on everything said above, I like these small underdog odds on Philadelphia Flyers.
