Columbus vs Washington (By: FairPlayBet)
Washington Capitals are one dangerous offensive team. Ovechkin is the best if you ask me, especially on power play. So with their offense working mainly well as of late, no wonder why Capitals went over the totals in seven if their last ten games. But you know what? By the average number of shoots on goal, Washington is the bottom of the NHL with quite below 30 per game. It something around 28 shoots per game. On the other side Columbus is near the bottom of the NHL when it comes to scored goals per game (2.5). So, I see this matchup interesting for betting under the totals.
Unlike Capitals who are 7-3 in last ten in favor of over, the Blue Jackets are 5-2 in last seven in favor of under. Also note some of the recent Capitals' games went over the totals on ridiculous way. For example, the last one (5:1 home win over Buffalo) was clear under but we saw late goals on empty net. Even when they conceded on empty net and then were 4:1 down, Buffalo Sabres have continued playing back then with empty net in final minute. Before that, game in Chicago was offensively terrible for Capitals but we saw over thanks to 7 goals from Chicago Blackhawks who were in super long series of defeats. So, you see my point, these 7-3 in favor of over could and should easily be 5-5.
Why I also like under tonight is the fact this should be one max serious game, real playoffs clash between two sides who are in race for post season spot.
The goaltenders are Braden Holtby for Washington Capitals and most likely Sergei Bobrovsky for Columbus Blue Jackets. Neither of them is among league leaders this season but far from they are weak goaltenders.
I really think this will remain under, while if we see over 5.5 than it would be exactly six goals, no more. So, I will cut the risk by taking under 5.75 with odds that are just slight weaker than those for under 5.5 (1.85).
