Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets by 20Legend
It will be their fifth meeting this season and Dallas Stars (38-17-6) has already won the previous four (6:3, 2:1 after penalties, 3:5, 3:5). Their last meeting was actually only two days ago as Dallas Stars was able to grab the win after the game was tied on 2-2 for a long time into the third period. The Stars was taking control in the first period as they scored its only goal. The second period started off by a quick goal from the Jets with Dallas Stars getting back into the lead shortly after. Winnipeg Jets (25-30-4) did not seem to give in easily despite being without Bryan Little, as Andrew Ladd stepped up with a shorthanded goal to make it 2-2 after the second period. The game then went into an exciting phase before exploding after passing the first 12 minutes. Four goals came in the following seven minutes and three belonged to the Stars, including an empty net goal. The Stars went up 2-4, before the Jets responded to 3-4 and pulling their goaltender in order to make it 4-4. However, it was another game above 5.5 goals between these two teams that has been the case in five of their last six meetings.
Dallas forward Patrick Eaves will be missing tonight’s game because of illness and is expected to be missing some time due to their coach Lindy Ruff. In addition Travis Moen is now day-to-day after being out for the last six matches. Their two goaltenders Kari Lethonen (2.89 GAA, .907 SV%) and Antti Niemi (2.59 GAA, .907 SV%) have both been the starting goaltender in the latest five games, and the coach has not confirmed who will get the start tonight.
Winnipeg’s Bryan Little will be missing tonight as well because of his neck-injury. Little has been out for the previous two games as well. It is also not decided wheatear he will start Ondrej Pavelec (2.85 GAA, .902 SV%), who has started the previous four games, or Michael Hutchinson (2.88 GAA and .908 SV%).
Even if both teams have just met each other I expect another high-scoring match tonight. Dallas Stars is the best scoring team in NHL so far this season as their offensive line continues making a difference to the score sheet time and time again. Both teams goaltending has not been the best for either team lately with the Stars conceding 16 and the Jets conceding 14 form their latest three games. Therefore I choose over 5.5 goals once again here.
