Anaheim Ducks vs LA Kings by 20Legend
Anaheim Ducks (33-19-8) is currently on a hot streak with seven wins in a row after defeating Edmonton Oilers (2-1) after overtime in their last win.
After being in a period where they both scored a lot and conceded a lot, they have now only scored three goals and conceded one goal in their past two games. The match against the Oilers was being much closer than expected all thanks to Oilers’ goaltender Cam Talbott who saved 32 of 34 shots. Edmonton Oilers, who is struggling bigtime these days with seven straight defeats in regular time, did manage to give an immediate answer by scoring under a minute after the Ducks’ goal in the third period. However, the Ducks’ efficiency was back on track in overtime as they scored with their first shot on goal through Rakell. The Ducks’ captain Ryan Getzlaf is enjoying a point-streak as he has five goals and eleven assist in his latest 10 games. Goaltender John Gibson will get the start for the Ducks tonight. Gibson has 14 wins this season with 2.10 GAA and .917 SV%.
LA Kings continued their good form as well by taking their fourth straight win as they brought down Buffalo Sabres (2-0) last night. LA Kings has been struggling on scoring goals lately and Tyler Toffoli made that clear before the game against the Sabres. He said that his team must be more aggressive from the start and don’t let their opponents score first in order to wake up. The Kings has score two goals or less in seven straight games now and it took a while against the Sabres as well. They outshouted the Sabres 35-23, but was not at it from the start as the Sabres had one more shot here (7-8). However, Buffalo Sabres was not able to score the first goal and felled more and more behind in the second and third period. Kings outshouted them 15-7 in the second and 13-8 in the third and managed to get a goal from each of the halves as well. Despite the positive results that have been there, it is a problem on scoring goals these days. Jonathan Quick is expected to start again after Jhonas Enroth played against Buffalo Sabres yesterday. Quick is in good form as he has only allowed one goal in three consecutive games. He has had a very good season also with 31 wins with 2.15 GAA and .922 SV%.
This will certainly be a match with a good atmosphere as it always is when these two teams meet. 2nd placed Anaheim Ducks’ current streak has cut the gap into four points up to 1st placed LA Kings in the Pacific Division, which should give an even more interesting match tonight. Both teams are not usually known for conceding many goals and their recent form suggests that the same trend should continue. Both goaltenders are in good form as well, while LA Kings struggles to score that many goals. I think the line of under 5 goals is a possible scenario here given how both teams play these days.
