New England Patriots vs Houston Texans (By: JotTeWe)
The Patriots will start their season at home, hosting the Hoston Texans.
This one will be a bit of gambling, and I will not dive too deep into any analysis. Just some short facts:
The Patriots somehow lost four starters in free agency: Many might think that the loss of Danny Amendola is the worst one, yet I think that Nate Solder will be missed the most. He was the Patriots starting left tackle in 95 games since being drafted in the first round 2011. New England replaced him by trading for Trent Brown (49ers) during this years Draft.
As of now, the Pats will start Dorsett and Hogan as WR1 and WR2. Not too much quality here, but they both ain't bad.
It seems like New England is somewhat gambling this year. It's hardly predictable how this season will end for them, but since it's the Pats we're talking about, see them as a playoff team nonetheless:
- They still got the GOAT Tom Brady under center. I don't like him, don't get me wrong. But man, he IS the greatest of all time.
- A healthy Gronk is hardly stoppable.
- they somehow managed to keep OC Josh McDaniels who turned down the HC job in Indy to stay in NE.
- Bill Belichick does what Bill Belichick does, and what Bill Belichick does is winning.
Thus, I think the Patriots will manage to win this game. But it might be a close one, especially if Texans monster JJ Watt plays to his best on defence (and maybe on offense...He already did it, remember?). They strengthened their OL and might provide 2nd year starter Deshaun Watson the time he needs. Overall, the Texans aren't as bad as their last seasons record (4-12) suggests. Many NFL games will be close ones, and I think this might one of those.
Texans +7,5 points is the tip.
