Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers (By: Miyagi)
The Blazers get help from a limited number of players offensively and it's quite easy to eliminate some of them, at least their offered lines, in this game.
McCollum comes from a high-scoring game 7 against the Nuggets which was mainly a sequel to Lillard's terrible execution (1 for 9 FG in the first half). Despite that very good performance from him, things will be much tougher for him today. Thompson is a tough assignment for McCollum and he will wear him down defensively as he can not be left unguarded but he is also a great defender and much bigger than McCollum. McCollum did not have the best of games against the Warriors this season as he averages 18p (36% FG) in 4 games so far.
Kanter, the third top scorer (12.9p) for the Blazers in the postseason, is the other guy that I have to exclude. This guy deserves all the respect we can give him! He is fasting for Ramadan and he played 40 minutes in Game 7 against the Nuggets (due to lack of big guys for the Blazers to throw on Jokic) despite the fact that the game started early and he was not able to get any fluids! He is still fasting and with the smaller lineup of the Warriors, I can only assume that he won't be required/ forced to play heavy minutes today, maybe most of his playing time will be in the first half.
Lillard comes from a terrible offensive display against the Nuggets despite the fact that he never before failed to step up and make an impact in elimination games for the Blazers. Still, Lillard has proved that he is not affected by poor performances and he will bounce back. Curry, who will probably be on him today, is not a good defender, despite all those 'underrated' discussions, and he always had trouble against aggressive players and good ball handlers that can also shoot the ball from distance. Lillard averages 28.3p (47.6% FG) in 4 games against the Warriors this season including a 40 point game.
I do believe that the Blazers have a chance in this game but for that to happen, Lillard will have to step up today and carry his side offensively and i will go for his line.
