Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors (By: Miyagi)
The Raptors come from their biggest playoff win after destroying the Sixers at home (125-89) in Game 5 and they have all the momentum of the world entering this one.
It was the first time in those series that the Raptors' offensive plays were more balanced and Leonard didn't have to repeatedly take matters into his own hands, which resulted in Raptors' series high assists (22) and 6 of their players finishing the game with double-digit points (Siakam, Leonard, Gasol, Green, Lowry, Ibaka) and yet despite the quiet night form Leonard, he finished the game with 21p, 13r, 4a.
Defensively, the Raptors proved once again why they are the top team in defensive efficiency in the playoffs while in what was the first game of the series that they won the battle of the boards, they completely dominated the game.
Sixers, on the other side, were a total mess on both ends of the court and there is nothing good to come out of that game. Their biggest issue, though, was in the offense as they were looking completely lost, there was no coherence, at times it felt like there were no plays other than..screens for our big guy to shoot the ball from beyond the arc, which is the least dangerous position for him on the court, and if that did not work, someone would have to get rid of hot potato in any possible way. JJ and Simmons were ghosts and if it wasn't for the extremely childish turnovers (twice after time-outs), nobody would have noticed that Simmons was on the court.
Simmons and Embiid combined for an incredible 13 turnovers (most of those in the first 5'' of each offensive play) and if felt like the Sixers only got to attack once every two possessions, literally! Embiid has now scored a massive 24 points (8 of those from the line) in his last 66 minutes on the court!
The Sixers are up against the wall and they play for their playoff future today but more importantly, they play for their pride which was shattered the other day and that is the only thing I give them today and the only thing that creates some doubt. Still, they looked so hopeless and so totally submitted and dominated in that last game that I highly doubt that there is a way back from that. The Raptors planted the seed of doubt in Sixers' minds and once they get over the first quarter (which is Philadephias strongest at home) and get a decent lead in this game, they will be ready to harvest.
