Toronto Raptors vs Orlando Magic (By: Miyagi)
Playoffs, first round, first game, and its time to see Leonard's impact on the Raptors and if he has what it takes to make a winning team out of a choking team.
#2 has faced the Magic 3 times already as a Raptor but it would not be fair to say that he made an impact in any of those games, average numbers and average performances (18p, 6.3r, 2.7a) and his lines are up to the sky today, so his total Under makes sense.
Apart from that, the Magic and their powerful defense have been a bad matchup for the Raptors this season despite the fact that their H2H record is at 2-2. The Raptors have scored 83p, 97p, 98p, and 121p in their 4 meetings with the Magic so far, while on the other side, the Magic have scored at least 109 points in 3 of those 4 meetings!
Both teams rank amongst the top 8 teams in the league in defensive efficiency and everything should revolve around that in those series, mainly because of the Magic.
Orlando ranks 5th in defensive efficiency on the road this season and at the same time, they rank 28th in pace on the road. It's more than expected that the Magic will try to control and lower the pace of the game and they have been great in doing so even against better teams. The Raptors will have to come up with a great plan/ plays to break open Magic's defense but even so, it won't take long for the the Magic to 'read' it and adapt and in any case, I can't see the Raptors having an easy time in the offense or getting easy points apart from fast breaks and free throws.
This is the first game and usually the one that the visitors give it all in order to stun their opponents and get the first break and for that reason, I expect the Magic to play the best defense they have played all season long and I highly doubt that the Raptors will manage to score above 109 points today.
