Chicago Bulls vs Atlanta Hawks (By: Miyagi)
The Bulls have been on fire in their return from the all-star break and have won 4 of the 5 games they have played so far while their only loss came against the team with the best record in the league, in what was a close game and a poor second quarter by the Bulls made all the difference. The main thing that the Bulls have improved during that stretch is their offensive efficiency(significantly), yet their defense, especially their efficiency when their bench is on the court, ranks still among the worst 3 of the league.
The Hawks on the other side have also been great recently despite their record which is at 2-3 in their last 5 games. Trae has been magnificent in his last 5 games (4 OT included) averaging 34.8p with 10.4a, while he tied Lebron's rookie record of 30p+10a games and that should finally end the discussion about Hawks' decision to trade him. Collins is also in great form, Huerter has improved his shooting and their bench has stepped up, ranking amongst the top 10 in production during those last 5 games.
Those teams are in great form, they have young, talented rosters and they already proved a couple of days ago that a match between them can only be very entertaining. Though the problem this time is that the Hawks had to play overtime in straight games, this is their third game in 5 days while they will visit Miami to face the Heat tomorrow! Yeah, a bit too much even for a young roster thus they have decided to play the fools and...all of a sudden Huerter is questionable (contusion), Price is out, Spellman is out, Collins is doubtful (illness), Len is probable and Carter, who played more minutes than his age the other day, is also questionable.
I suspect that the Hawks will rest/ protect as many players as they can today and they are about to use a weird rotation, either way, tomorrow's game against the fully motivated Heat is more important in terms of experience for their young players and they should focus on that. I expect the Bulls, who will be at full strength as LaVine is expected to dress up, to have an easy task today and they should destroy the tired, shorthanded Hawks in front of their demanding fans.
