Los Angeles Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves (By: Miyagi)
Rose's performance in his last game was probably a bit suspicious but definitely strange. He is an ultra-aggressive player who will look to attack the basket, drive in traffic drawing contact and definitely have confidence in himself and his moves. That was typical Rose against the Suns in the first game of that back to back set, who despite having a terrible start in the game, returned to get the job done in the second half almost on his own. Though, in the second game (last one), he was nothing like himself. He was constantly passing the ball despite having open lanes to the basket, he was not aggressive and he was always a step behind his teammates, monitoring them, while he finished the game with just 3 baskets out of a very low 9 attempts and most of those shots out of his comfort zone.
I would expect a lot of players to have this strange behavior (for reasons that have nothing to do with basketball) in back to back games with the same team, especially after crashing them in the first game but not Rose and definitely not this version of Rose who, after a very long time, is healthy, confident and he is fighting like there is no tomorrow in every game as he as close as he has ever been during the last 3 years to be trusted and sign a big contract.
T.Jones and J.Teague remain sidelined and so Rose will have some bigger role once again and act as a primary ball handler. Offensively he will have an easier task since the Lakers are missing Lonzo, one of the best defenders capable of matching Rose's speed and intensity.
Rose played in 2 of the first 3 meetings of the season between those teams. In his first game, he came from the bench and scored 11p (4-16 FG) while in their first visit to L.A. he was in the starting lineup (Teague missed that game as well) and scored 31p (11-17 FG, 7-9 3P). Rose averages 22.4 points per game as a starter (5 more than coming from the bench) and if he plays his 'normal' game today, he shouldn't have trouble scoring above 20p.
