Minnesota Timberwolves vs Atlanta Hawks (By: Miyagi)
Timberwolves won their last 2 games, they are on a streak, they have the momentum and need to build on that with 3 very tough games on the road following (Heat, Pelicans, Celtics).
First things first and to be honest, the easiest matchup, at least on paper, is by far for Rose here. The Hawks have tremendous trouble defending against opposing point guards and it gets a lot worse against very aggressive and crafty ball handlers like Rose. He is in very good shape, he gets massive minutes since Teague is sidelined and he enjoys a healthy version of himself every single day out there!
On the other hand, the Hawks have done a great job against Centers recently and they allow the fewest points as a team from that position while they are also among the top 4 teams in points allowed from that position in the league during their last 5 games. Yet, there are a couple of little secrets: one is that they have faced more 'traditional' Centers recently thus their opponents have used many small-ball plays in their games and the scored points were not credited in Centers per se. And the second one is that Len, who was in the starting lineup and did a lot of the hard work in defense, will miss this one which means that Dedmon will be moved to Center and he is a pray for players like Towns. Of course, the bookies have done their homework and either offer KAT's normal lines at shaved odds or much higher lines.
KAT has his career high points (56) against the Hawks in their previous meeting. He is not having the best of games recently as he has failed to score above 20 points in any of his last 5 though he had a good performance against the Bulls in his last game (20p, 61% FG), he is shooting lights out from beyond the arc as he made both of his 2 attempts in each of his last two games and he is trying, really trying to have a good game and boost his confidence. He will have his chance today against the team (and the player, Dedmon) he tore apart a few months ago, so it's up to anyone to decide between KAT or Rose or both!
