Nashville Predators vs Dallas Stars by 20Legend

Nashville Predators comes from a loss against Chicago Blackhawks (5-3) on October 16th after beating them 3-2 on the night before. The Predators produced 36 shots against the Blackhawk’s 27 in their recent game, but it was the first period that settled the game for them. Chicago Blackhawks was outshot by 8:16 in the opening period, but was still able to score three goals in less than four minutes. The Preds managed to get one goal back just before the first break which kept their hopes up. Nahsville Predators was the more dominating team in the second period and managed to get another goal right before the second break as well. The third period kept the excitement with both teams scoring a goal each within the first 10 minutes. However, the Blackhawks kept the initiative and settled the score right before the end with 5-3. Defenseman Anthony Bitetto (upper body) and right winger Miikka Salomaki (upper body) are missing several weeks due to injuries.

Dallas Stars kept up in the highly entertaining game against Colorado Avalanche (6-5), but they have to let the points go in the end. It is not the first time that the Avalanche has troubled the Stars as eight of their last nine games at the Pepsi Center have been won by the home team. Dallas Stars looked like they were going to do something about it with being 0-2 up at first, but Colorado Avalanche responded with two goals of their own before the first break.

However, the home team took completely over with three goals in the first seven minutes of the second period. Dallas’ goaltender Antti Niemi, who conceded five goals in 20 shots, got pulled with Kari Lehtonen taking over to stop 12 of the last 13 shots, but 5-2 made it difficult for them to come back. However, Dallas Stars managed to make Avs’ goaltender Varlamov’s day more miserable with two goals that put their team only one goal behind before the third period. But it was the home team that got the first goal in the last period that kept the Stars behind and even with a quick responding; it was not enough from losing 6-5 in the end. It was certainly the offensive play that was the thing to hold onto for both teams in this match.

Right winger Jiri Hudler (illness) is doubtful, while right winger Alex Hemsky (groin), center Cody Eakin (knee) and Center/left winger Mattias Janmark (knee) are all on injured reserve.

Both Star’s captain Jamie Benn (1 goal, 1 assist) and center Tyler Seguin (2 goals and 1 assist) stated that their defensive work was unacceptable in a game were they score five goals. They have a point as a lot needs to be worked on defensively in the future. On the other side, that is often what you get with the highly offensively talented Dallas Stars. These meetings are often tending to be high-scoring as well and I think that it will be a fact tonight as well. Both teams have enjoyed a couple of days rest and will be ready to give another offensive display here. The Predators have been struggling at home against the Stars at home for the last seasons and we should be up for an open game. I think it is fair to agree with the bookmakers in this one and choose at least six goals to be involved.
