Napoli vs Fiorentina by Enzo
Napoli got eliminated from the Europa League last Thursday, as the team drew against Porto at home and it wasn't enough after a 1:0 defeat two weeks ago in Portugal. The Italians took the lead in 24th minute, missed several chances to get the 2:0 lead and got drawn in 69th minute against the flow of the game.
That equalizer came as a bit of a shock for them, as the Portuguese side managed to get into 2:1 lead few minutes later, while the players of Napoli pulled a draw in the second minute of the delays with a goal from Zapata. Earlier to that, Napoli won away from home against Torino with the only goal being scored in 89th minute by Higuain. Currently, they are third at the table being quite safe at that position with ten points more than fourth placed Fiorentina, while Roma is six points above them and still can be caught. Goalkeeper Rafael (8/0) remains injured, same as backs Zuniga (4/0) and Maggio (8/0). Hosts should be field up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Higuain (26/14) at the top of attack.
Fiorentina got also excluded on Thursday night from Europa League, as they failed to take advantage of the 1:1 draw in the first leg in Torino and have suffered a narrow 0:1 loss against Juventus in the returning leg. Only goal was scored with Pirlo's free kick in 71st minute, while Viola was playing with ten man and couldn't find a way to respond.
Still, it has to be said that Fiorentina was better in the first half when they lost three good chances to open the scoreline, while the conceded goal left them shocked with the visitors having only one chance during all ninety minutes. Earlier to that game, they have won 3:1 over Chievo, in a game that was much more difficult that the final result shows. They continue to be at fourth position, but with only a point more than fifth placed Inter and two points more than sixth placed Parma, which means that they will probably fight for the Europa League place till the end of the season. Central defender Hegazy remain long term absentee, while the visitors also miss offensive players Rebic (3/0) and more importantly striker Rossi (18/14), while new loss is also midfielder Pizzaro (20/1).
Fiorentina didn't play anything special in away games this season, while Europa League duties seem to have influenced them more. Napoli, on the other side, remains one of the best home sides in the country and shouldn't have much of the problems winning tonight as Viola misses two important offensive players.
