Nancy vs Marseille by Lucien
Even though they took the lead in the first halftime, Nancy couldn't do much more in their 3:1 defeat last weekend away from home against Nice. Dale brought the visitors into the lead in 26th minute, a bit agains the flow of the game, while Le Bihan leveled up nine minutes later as the home team continued to control everything on the field.
It was almost impossible for Nancy to stood undefeated later on, as the players of Nice increased the tempo in the second halftime and reached the victory thanks to goals from Seri (first one from penalty kick) in 51st and 84th minute. This way they didn't manage to build up on their previous victory at home against Rennes 3:0, as the team remained just above the relegation zone having thirty-one point, same as play-out placed Lorient and just three more than rock bottom placed Bastia.
Nancy should be playing in quite offensive 4-3-3 formation with Maouassa, Dale and Dia as forwards. Right defender Joffrey Cuffaut (26/1) is suspended for this one, while injured remain left backs Tobias Badila (21/1), Vincent Muratori (17/0) and offensive midfielder Abdou Karim Coulibaly (9/0).
After a run of three consecutive draws and quite poor performances for their standards as they scored only once in these three draws (against Dijon, Lille and Toulouse), the team impressed and showed much better performance last Sunday evening as they celebrated 4:0 victory.
Hosts completely deserved the victory as they dominated whole ninety minutes, as Thauvin scored two, Gomis and Payet once. It was their sixth consecutive game without a defeat, as the side has three victories and three draws, keeping for now sixth position at the table, which stands just a point below fifth placed Bordeaux and three less than fourth placed Lyon, being in a must win situation if they are to fight for Europa League exit via Ligue 1.
Visitors from Marseille should be set in also offensive 4-3-3 formation, using Thauvin and Payet as wingers, plus Cabella most likely as central striker. Forward Bafetimbi Gomis (27/17) is suspended for this one, with left back Kari Rekik (10/0) being injured.
- Marseille have won 9 of their last 10 matches against Nancy.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Nancy's last 3 home games (Ligue 1).
Marseille remains favorite for this one and is probably closer to get the victory, but I see players of Nancy also being very attacking and threatening in this one. Their stadium is close to sold out for this clash and I definitely see them being very competitive, therefore my first choice will be goals in this one as well as both teams scoring.
