Morecambe vs Leyton Orient by Luke
Morecambe surprised a lot so far in the season, with the team being currently at the leading position after five rounds played. After starting defeat in the season opener against Grimsby, the team reacted great and managed to get four consecutive victories, against Blackpool, Portsmouth, Yeovil and last weekend away from home 2:3 against Accrington on the road.
Needs to be said that they were quite lucky in the previous round, since the hosts from Accrington have opened up the game much better and took the double lead thanks to goals from Kee in 27th and 34th minute, but the important factor was red card given to their player Hughes and the team simply couldn't match up with determined visitors till the end, who managed to take the victory thanks to goals from Stockton in 45th and 57th and Ellison in 46th minute.
Defender Luke Conlan (4/0) is missing due international duty. Hosts also can't count at defender Dean Winnard who had no appearance till now and midfielder Aaron Wildig (1/0).
Leyton Orient is having a mediocre start in the season, as the team currently has two victories, a draw and two defeats in first five rounds. Logically, they are in the middle of the table with seven points earned, which is just two points less than play-off placed sides and in case of improvement, they still have every chances of getting away with something, or maybe even promotion in the new season.
Last weekend the team has suffered a bit unexpected defeat in front of own fans against Mansfield, even though they were slight favorites to win the game. The game itself wasn't very attacking and actually was boring, but it got more open in last thirty minutes, with the visitors being more lucky in the end and taking the victory with a goal scored in last moments of the match. No doubt that the players of Leyton now want to get back on the positive way and will surely be aiming to walk away with something against first placed Morecambe.
Leyton has some problems making the squad this time, since the guests have defender Yban Erichot (5/0), Ulrich Nnomo (forward, no performance till now) and midfielder Nigel Atangana (5/0) all set as doubtful in front of today's game. Additionally, defender Sean Clohessy (2/0) and forward Scott Kashket (0/0) have both left the club in last days of transfer window.
The game itself should be quite an open one, since both sides can only win from this game and have very little to lose. They both want victories, with Morecambe aiming to continue in a bit more offensive and open way, while Leyton surely wants to continue their undefeated streak on the road. Somehow, my feeling is that both sides are working much better in offense than their defensive lineups are and therefore, I see value in taking both teams to score here.
