Mattersburg vs Rapid by Gustav
Mattersburg didn't manage to get a point in a home game against Altach last weekend, even though the team probably deserved maybe even more than a point. Guests took the lead in 23rd minute with a goal from Dovedan and controlled the game in that moment, but stood playing with a man less at the end of the first halftime and the things have completely changed.
Home side was controling the field and dominating the game from that moment on, deserving their equalizer in 69th minute via Templ, but the visitors stole all three points in fifth minute of additional time with a goal from Ngwat-Mahop, completely against the flow of the game. After this defeat, players of Mattersburg remained at the rock bottom position with only ten points earned so far out of sixteen rounds and the team will get into huge problems in case they don't improve soon, since they are already four points behind safely placed St Polten.
First goalkeeper Kuster (10/0) won't be play here, as well as defender Mahrer (9/1) and forward Burger (14/2). Midfielder Sprangler (13/0) is suspended.
Rapid Vienna, on the other side, comes from a difficult defeat at their own fans against Sturm Graz last weekend, as the team suffered 1:2 defeat even though they looked like having overall more control over the ball. However that wasn't what football is about and the visitors surely did have more chances created and looked more concrete with the ball to their feet.
Team from Graz took the lead in tenth minute with a goal from Lykogiannis, while the home side replied just three minutes later via Kvilitaia, but didn't manage to threaten much further on. Visitors were using counter-attacking tactics for the most of the game and it suited them well, scoring the winning goal in 81st minute via Schmerbock. After this defeat, Rapid continued slipping down the table, now having three consecutive defeats in a row and being at fifth position, having already eleven points less than Europa League placed Austria Vienna.
Visitors will be missing defender Pavelic (14/1), Auer (2/0), midfielders Hofmann (2/0), Schwab (12/4) and forward Entrup (2/0) all being injured.
Rapid is not coming in the best possible form, but the team remains in a must win situation now and the difference between two sides is simply too big. One way or another, visitors from Vienna should get all three points, having so much more to offer in attack, but also having much more reliable defensive lineup.
