Mattersburg vs Austria Vienna by Gustav
It could be said that after ten rounds played, Mattersburg is already in all sorts of trouble, since the team has earned only five points so far, recording only one victory and that they are at the rock bottom position at the moment, surely something their fans nor directors haven't expected. The team isn't looking that well on the field and has big problems in their defensive line, conceding more goals than they usually should.
Luckily for them, they are only a point below St Polten, so there's still plenty of time to improve the things, but the truth is that they will need to work really hard in order to improve this time. In the most recent match before the break, team visited Admira and stood defeated 1:0, without looking that bad in overall, quite a passive game from both sides. Only goal they conceded was back in 82nd minute as an own goal, leaving no time for the visitors to reply back, even though they had bit more of the ball possession. The team needs to react badly, but knowing that they will be awaiting Austria who is also close to a must win situation, it seems like the team will need to await for a bit easier opponent.
Austria Vienna is playing far below their expectations for this season, being only in the middle of the table at fifth position after ten rounds, but similar to Mattersburg, there's still plenty of time to improve, since the team stands just three points below second placed Altach. With five victories, a draw and four defeats they can't be completely satisfied since four defeats in ten matches looks simply to big.
Still, the team won over St Polten 2:1 at home in the previous game they played, with a lot of problems since the visitors had the lead, while the players of Austria were only able to revert the things around in last ten minutes of the game, with a bit of luck, via goals from Serbest in 81st and Kayode four minutes later. It was good to see them reacting finally after defeats against Salzburg and Admira that came prior to playing the last match.
I'm sure that international break suited for both teams very well, but Austria remains much higher in my regards here. The team isn't getting right results always, but they remain the one with much better potential and overall, way better individual skills. Mattersburg should be a victim of their own defensive lineup once again.
