Marseille vs Lille by Lucien
After many ups and downs, it seems that Marseille now really goes into the right direction, after the team comes from two consecutive victories, firstly away at home against Nancy 3:0, but also coming from a 1:2 victory away from home against Dijon.
It wasn't that interesting match, since it was played under poor field conditions and also poor weather, but the visiting team suited the conditions better, since they took the lead in sixth minute via Lopez, showing great fighting spirit since they managed to get the victory despite being leveled up in 78th minute via Abeid, since they scored the winner nine minutes later via Gomis. During the midweek they lost Coupe de la Ligue competition's match in 1/8 finals, after penalties away to Sochaux.
Marseille should be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Sarr, N'Jie and Thauvin as forwards. Midfielder Lass Diarra might return here to action still being doubtful, similar to other midfielder Remy Cabella and forward Bafetimbi Gomis. Left full back Henri Bedimo (9/0) and midfielder Abou Diaby (2/0) are both sidelined with injuries.
Lille is looking much better under interim coach, since the club won ten points in previous four rounds, having a draw away to Nantes, but then three straight victories, against Caen, Bordeaux and a 2:1 victory in the latest Ligue 1 game last weekend at home against Montpellier.
They had an excellent start into the match and took the double lead already after the first halftime thanks to goals from De Preville and Sankhare, while they stood a bit more defensive then they should, but weren't punished for it. All the visiting team managed was to reduce the deficit in 81st via Mounie, even though they could have done more on some other day. Lille is now in the middle of the table, completely escaping from the red zone battle, being now four points above it and need to continue in the same manner. The team couldn't do much more with a rotated squad away to PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue competition game during the midweek.
Visitors from Lille are set to play in 4-2-3-1 formation with Eder as striker, plus Lopes, Benzia and Sliti as offensive midfielders. Offensive midfielder Rony Lopes and central midfielder Mounir Obbadi are questionable ahead of this match, while injured remains central defender Stoppila Sunzu (3/0), midfielder Rio Mavuba (11/0), offensive midfielder Eric Bautheac (7/0) and forwards Yves Bissouma (7/0), Ryan Mendes (7/0) and Nicolas de Preville (11/3) who got injured during the midweek.
Home team remains a favorite here since they are full of confidence after two victories in Ligue 1, however Lille is also doing more than well at the moment and the game itself should be more offensive and more open than what the statistics are saying. Guests are far away from a naive side and should be dangerous enough here in order for the both teams to score here with ease.
