Marseille vs Bastia by Lucien

Marseille didn't manage to get a three pointer last time out on Sunday evening when the team visited Bordeaux and therefore, didn't secure their placement to Europa League just yet. In order to make it, the team will need to get a victory in the last round of Bastia, side that needs points badly in order to stay in the league.

It was a duel between two sides interested and in race for Europa League spot and it could be said that the players of Marseille walked away with a positive result, since they now need a victory in last round again way weaker side. Hosts took the lead in second minute via Rolan, but the players of Marseille had much more of the ball possession from that moment on and sealed the equalizer in 60th minute with a goal from Gomis, even though they didn't have that much of chances created overall.

Midfielder and sometimes defender, Gregory Sertic (8/0) probably will not be risked here coming from injury, while offensive midfielder Dimitri Payet (15/4) won't be playing due accumulated yellow cards. They should be lined up in 4-3-3 formation, with Cabella and Thauvin as forwards plus Gomis as central striker.

Bastia, on the other side, comes from a 2:0 victory against Lorient last Sunday evening, as they were hosts but the game was played on neutral location. This was crucial three pointer for them, as the team kept chances of salvation and now stands second from the bottom, with just two points less than safely placed sides.

Ball possession was shared between the sides, but the players of Bordeaux were much more concrete with the ball to their feet, as they risked more towards the end of the game and deservedly reached the three pointer thanks to goals from Crivelli in 75th and Danic in 86th minute. Their target is huge in this game, since the team needs to get a three pointer, so without any doubt, the game will have to be very risky and open minded for them sooner or later.

Midfielder Farid Boulaya (2/0) is out with a knee injury, while ankle problem will prevent defender Florian Marange (19/0) from playing in this one. Central defender Lindsay Rose (9/0) is also out for some time, same as other central back Sebastien Squillaci (10/0) due injuries. Midfielder Mehdi Mostefa (30/0) is suspended, while talented forward Allan Saint-Maximin (32/3) went to World U20 Cup with the national team. Guests are set to play in 4-4-2 formation with Ngando and Crivelli as forwards in this one.

  • Marseille have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches against SC Bastia.

Both teams are in need of all three points here and having in mind that this is the last match, there's no doubt that both sides will have to take really risky approach here. Under such circumstances, a victory of much more quality side with several goals in the progress sees to likely.
