Manchester Utd vs Manchester City by Luke
Manchester United took another quite professional victory taking a 3:1 three pointer against Aston Villa last weekend. After yet another victory, seventh in a row, the team is now at the third position and the things are looking much, much better than everyone could expect after a disappointing start this season.
They are only one point behind Arsenal and have a chance to get even the second position till the end, while the Citizens are just below them with a point less, which makes this game very important for both sides, as there are big chances that one of these teams will stay without direct qualifying ticket for Champions League next season. As said, Manchester United is in a great form at the moment and this game comes in the best possible time for them, as in case of a victory, there are big chances that the team will finish the season with a direct Champions League ticket, above their city rival and generally, under ideal conditions. Defender Johny Evans (13/0) remains suspended, while offensive Robin van Persie (24/10) probably won't play here. Left back Shaw (13/0) is doubtful, same as central defender Smalling (18/3).
Manchester City was a title battle for so long during the season, but now seems to be getting out of the top three positions and in case they continue like this, it won't be much of a surprise in case the team gets out of the top four positions as well. With three defeats in last five Premier League matches, things are everything but bright for them.
In case a defeat here as well, it's hard to see coach Manuel Pellegrini staying at the bench for too long, while there are anyway rumors that the board of directors will anyway sack him as soon as the season finishes. Even though they had something to say against referees, there is no doubt that the Citizens are only responsible for their 2:1 defeat last weekend away to Crystal Palace. Important striker Wilfried Bony (24/11) continues to be injured, while offensive Jovetic (17/5) also has some problems and will hardly play. Central defender and team captain Vincent Kompany is doubtful as well, but with chances to recover on time.
Manchester United has current form on their side, but a derby game is always unpredictable. Both teams are in a must win situation and therefore, my pick will be with goals, as I do believe hosts are closer to get it, but at the same time, the game can get very complicated with only one individual effort from the Citizens' players.
