Malaga vs Villarreal by Neuro
On Tuesday evening Malaga hosted Levante in the match of Spanich Copa del Rey and took a strong lead in front of the returning leg with a 2:0 victory. There is no doubt that the hosts deserved their victory, being obviously a better side in each halftime. They scored a goal in each part, opening the lead in sixteenth minute via Anor.
Everything was decided after Horta's goal in 78th minute, while the visiting side actually didn't even try to score during the game, not even after conceding the second one. As for the Primera, Malaga will try to bounce back here with a victory, after an unexpected defeat at home against Almeria 1:2 in previous round. It was a crucial setback for them, as the team slipped down from the European positions, but now have a chance to regain the position against a direct rival. Defensive midfielder Fernando Tissone is doubtful for this game and his participation will be decided in the last moments before the match. With two defeats in Primera in last three matches at home, their confidence might be ruined a bit, but no doubt that the team goes for all three points in this game. Home side will surely be without four injured defensive players: Roberto Chen, central back Sergio Sanchez (12/0), Flavio Ferreira and Weligton (14/0).
Villarreal, on the other side, didn't have easy opponent in Real Sociedad in their Copa del Rey game at home, as they could only get a 1:0 victory despite numerous and obvious efforts to win with a bigger difference. Even so, they could also feel happy with a goal scored, as it came very late in the game - in 71st minute via Cheryshev.
On the other hand, players of Sociedad didn't try to much to make a goalscoring chances, oriented on defending and fighting for every ball - probably knowing that their chance lies with the returning leg at their own home. Anyway, this was 12th consecutive match with no defeat for Villarreal, team that climbed so much in the previous two weeks at the table - currently they are on sixth position, only three points away from Champions League placed side Sevilla. They have won eight out of last nine matches and no doubt that they will be trying to get all three pointer here as well. Mateo Musacchio is slowly recovering his fitness and might be given some playing minutes here. Important Giovani Dos Santos returned to first team starters during the midweek and will surely be given a start here as well. Offensive midfielder Hernan Perez and left defender Bojan Jokic remain sidelined as long term absentees. Finally, defender Pablo Iniguez is doubtful and will probably be at the bench only.
As hosts here, Malaga will probably have the first say and will try to attack as much as possible, but the visiting side surely won't stay here with no replay. Additionally, hosts are missing couple of important defenders and might easily run into problems during the match. With everything said, both teams to score seems like the most logical choice, with chances surely being well over 50%.
