Lyon vs Toulouse by Lucien
Lyon had a run of four consecutive victories in all competitions, but didn't manage to take all three points last time out in Ligue 1, when the side took only a draw in a 1:1 game away to Bordeaux. Their hosts entered the match better and took the lead in sixteenth minute with a goal from Vada, while the visiting side spent a lot of time with the ball to their feet but weren't that concrete.
Still, they increased the tempo in the second halftime and managed to level up the result in 79th minute with a goal from Mammana, with the guests remaining with ball possession, but without changing the scoreline later on. Lyon remained at fourth position, having just two points than fifth placed Marseille and therefore are in must win situation. During the midweek, they managed to get a victory over Roma in a 4:2 game and earn important advantage ahead of the returning leg in 1/8 finals of Europa League.
Central defender Mouctar Diakhaby (15/1) is suspended for this one, while defensvie midfielder and sometimes left defender Maciej Rybus (16/0) is injured. Right full back Rafael (20/0) is doubtful for this one and his participation will be decided in last moments before the game.
Toulouse, on the other side, disappointed a bit last weekend as the team took only a point in a home game against Lille in a 1:1 draw. They had all the chances to walk away with a victory before the game and even took the lead early, in 30th minute via Jullien but paid the price since they weren't interested a lot for the match once they took the lead.
Players of Lille had much more of the ball possession later on and dominated the match, deserving the equalizer in 80th minute via Benzia, while the hosts had a chance to steal the victory anyway, but Braithwaite missed the penalty kick in 84th minute. This was six consecutive match without defeat for Toulouse, two victories and four draws, also third draw in a row, as the side remains in the middle of the table having eleven points less than Europa League placed Lyon, but also eight points more than relegating worried sides.
Defender Dusan Veskovac (1/0) is injured and remains long term absentee, as the guests also miss defender Alexis Blin (21/0) and central defender Yrondu Musavu-King (3/0) due injuries. Striker Martin Braithwaite (25/10) is suspended with Jimmy Durmaz probably taking his spot. Midfielder and sometimes right back Clement Michelin (8/0) is doubtful.
- Lyon have scored at least 4 goals in their last 3 home matches (Ligue 1).
- Lyon have seen over 2.5 goals in 9 of their last 11 matches against Toulouse.
Lyon is playing in a really great form at the moment and I don't see Toulouse stopping them today on that run. Visitors are in a decent form as well, but don't have desired quality in attack in order to match much more quality side, which Lyon surely is this time.
