Lugano vs St Gallen by Gustav
Lugano suffered actually expected loss last weekend, as the team visited Sion and stood defeated with a 2:0 result. Hosts entered the game better and took the lead in thirteenth minute via an own goal, but the real chance for the visitors came in 44th minute, when Sion stood playing with a man less.
Their defender Taravel got red carded, but the players of Lugano didn't manage to exploit that fact in the second half. They indeed had much more of the ball possession, but were quite slow with building the play, while the home team sealed the victory from a penalty kick in 89th minute taken by Konate - a bit against the flow of the match. Lugano is now remaining at fourth position, having a point more than fifth placed Luzern and needs a victory here in order to keep the chances high of ending up in Europa League qualifiers.
Left back Goran Jozinovic (18/0) is sidelined with injury, same as striker Lorenzo Rosseti (11/4). Offensive midfielder/forward Antonini Culina (no performance so far) continues to be suspended.
St Gallen improved well in previous two rounds and it could be said that their improvement came when it was needed the most as they now stand safe at the table, having two consecutive victories and eleven points more than tenth and relegating placed Vaduz with four more rounds to be played.
In the most recent game, St Gallen managed to get a victory at home against Vaduz 2:0, having one of the most comfortable matches in previous few months. They took the lead in 28th minute with a goal from Haggui, continued being better for all ninety minutes and sealed it in 78th minute when Barnetta took the penalty kick. It was fully deserved victory and could have been even with bigger margin. Right defender Silvan Hefti (29/0) remains sidelined with injury.
Lugano is a favorite here and might take the victory, but I don't see this match being as open minded as the odds suggest at the moment. St Gallen have been really good in defense in last two matches and I see this game being as close as possible, probably being decided with one goal. Odds have plenty of value, in my eyes at least.
