Lille vs Lyon by DamirJ
Lille is coming from a worst possible start in the Champions League as they were defeated at home from the biggest underdogs in the group - BATE Borisov 1:3, meaning that they can only have limited chances now of progressing to the next stage in Champions League.
Nothing went well for Lille from the beginning of that game as they found themselves losing 0:3 already in the first halftime, starting the second halftime with a bit better performance but were only able to reduce the deficit to 1:3 in 60th minute. Things aren't looking that well for them in the domestic league neither, as they have expanded run without a win to four consecutive matches. Start of the season looked much more promising, but obviously whole team is in a bad period right now and something needs to be changed quickly.
Offensive midfielder Marvin Martin got injured in a game against the Belarus side and won't be able to play for three weeks at least. Furthermore, main striker Salomon Kalou is suspended for this clash.
Lyon, on the other side, is coming from a midweek match in Europa League against Sparta Prague at home. It was a hard earned victory for the French side as they had to improve the game in the second halftime, taking 2:0 lead and playing really good match against defensive minded opponent who even managed to score a goal near the full time whistle.
Lyon made a very good start of the season, both in the Championnat and Europa League, which will surely have further psychological impact on the players after a poor last season. They have earned thirteen out of possible fifteen points in the domestic league and are holding the second position with the last won match against Ajaccio 2:0 at home. In-form guests should be without left midfielders Bastos and long injured offensive player Gourcuff. The attack will be led by in-form strikers Lisandro and Gomis.
Neither of these teams are coming to defend and we should surely see some goals tonight. However, there are no real reasons for hosts to be set as favorites here against in-form guests that have no weaker squad (comparing individually to their guests) and taking Lyon not to lose at these odds surely have some value.
