Levante vs Real Sociedad by Jimeno
Levante opened up the season with a narrow victory over Villarreal at home and have recorded three draws since then, but we can still speak about very positive start from their side, since the draws came at home against Deportivo and away from home against far more superior Real Madrid, while the side also managed to take a positive draw at home last weekend against Valencia in a 1:1 draw.
No doubt that they were underdogs on the paper before the game and the side was defending more than their opponents, as the players of Valencia took the lead in 31st minute via Rodrigo, while Bardhi leveled up the result in 41st minute. Visitors had much more of the ball possession and were creating chances, while the hosts did close to nothing in attack in second halftime but stood well in the defense and deserved their point thanks to the fighting spirit they showed. Levante is now in the middle of the table having just two points less than European placed sides and need to seek for a three pointer in this one.
Offensive player Jose Morales (2/1) should be back into the team after serving suspension, while the hosts continue to miss injured right back Ivan Lopez (3/0), defensive midfielder Jefferson Lerma (4/0) and forward Roger Marti who didn't play so far in the season anyway.
Real Sociedad, on the other side, also made a very positive start into the new LaLiga season, as the side won over very quality sides like Celta on the road, Villarreal in front of own fans and away from home against Deportivo La Coruna in first three matches. Moreover, they also started the Europa League campaign well as they demolished Norwegian champions Rosenborg with a 4:0 result last Thursday evening.
However, playing against Real Madrid was simply too much for them last Sunday evening as the team got outplayed and defeated with a 1:3 result in front of own fans. The game itself was quite an open one and the teams had similar number of real chances, however the team from Madrid looked way more concrete and scored their goals more easily, also staying better in the defense. Guests took the lead in 19th minute via Mayoral, while the players of Sociedad managed to level up in 28th via Rodrigues, but it didn't last long since the visitors took the lead again via an own goal in 36th, while Bale sealed their victory in 61st minute.
Central defender Raul Navas (2/0) is injured and out with a back problem. Right back Carlos Martinez (no performance so far) is also injured, while doubtful remain central back Inigo Martinez (1/0) and offensive midfielder Mikel Oyarzabal (2/1).
- Real Sociedad are undefeated in their last 7 matches against Levante.
- Real Sociedad have scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 away matches (La Liga).
- Real Sociedad have conceded at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 away matches (La Liga).
Levante are still undefeated this season and will surely be looking to get a victory here since Sociedad had a good start, but aren't significantly stronger side that will only be attacking here. However, guests are on a good run and surely want to impress further and continue in a positive way - something that promises quite exciting match with plenty of chances from both ends.
