Leeds United vs Burton Albion by Shibby
Championship action for me, a game that will be played at Elland Road and will see Leeds United host Burton Albion in a 15:00 kick off.
The home side, Leeds currently sit in 3rd in the league and remain one of two sides to not experience defeat in the Championship this season, the other being Cardiff City. Leeds have won 3 and drawn two so far this term and head into today's game on the back of 3 wins in a row, Leeds beat Sunderland away from home 2-0 in a great performance to beat a side expected to be winning the league. Then a 5-1 cup win vs Newport would have also given confidence to the squad. Their last fixture was a 2-0 win vs Forest, a game that Leeds played well in. Since new manager Thomas Christiansen took charge Leeds seem like a different team, he's lost his top striker in Chris Wood, however, this seems to have changed the way in which Leeds play. They no longer have a target man up front to aim at, they have been using little Kemar Roofe or Ekuban which seems to be working.
Leeds have bee playing a 4-2-3-1 formation which is making it difficult for teams to break down. They have only conceded 2 goals from 5 games and they were in the first game of the season when they beat Bolton 3-2 away from home.
From what I've seen this year I expect Leeds to make a serious challenge for promotion and why not, I think they just need to add a few extra players to the squad in Jan.
The visitors for the game are Burton Albion, currently in 21st in the league. They are expected by many to be fighting at the bottom of the league come the end of the season. They have a great manager, however, not sure his squad of players are capable of winning many games in this league. They do have some good players, however, their best player left to go to Derby (Irvine).
They have managed some decent results of late to be honest, they beat Birmingham at home on a Friday night, then they went on to beat League leaders Cardiff City in the cup 2-1 (Cardiff played a weaker side). Their last fixture was a 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday.
I don't think this will be an easy game for Leeds, however, I think the confidence coupled with the home support and their league position should see them win here today. I'll be backing Leeds at a good price of 1.60 with Bet365. Good luck all.
