Lausanne vs Sion by Gustav
Lausanne is having really nice start in the season, but the team suffered 1:0 defeat last weekend away to Thun. It was a bit unexpected defeat for the players of Lausanne, who looked slightly better in the first halftime and even missed a penalty kick at the beginning of the second, but soon enough everything got changed for them.
They stood playing with a man less in 59th minute when defensive midfielder Custodio da Costa got red carded and the team had to switch to much more defensive behavior. Of course, hosts were much more offensive and were attacking, getting the victory thanks to a goal from Fassnascht in 73rd minute. Despite a defeat, players of Lausanne remained at the second position, however now tied up together with Sion, at the same time having only two points more than sixth placed Lugano.
Suspended for today's game should be central defender Elton Monteiro (11/0) and Jeremy Maniere (11/0), as well as defensive midfielder Olivier Custodio (11/2). Injured are goalkeeper Thomas Castella (8/0), central defender Carlos Blanco (no performance for the first team so far) and right midfielder Benjamin Kololli (8/2). Game comes too soon for striker Kevin Mendez (2/0) who is recovered, but far away from fully fit.
Sion, on the other side, comes from a very good performance last weekend, as the team managed to get second consecutive victory winning over Grasshoppers at home in a 4:2 game. Players of Sion had a great first halftime, especialy great eight minutes when they took the 3:0 lead from 27th to 35th minute thanks to two goals from Akolo and Ziegler. It was six undefeated game in a row for Sion (five victories and a draw), as the team climbed up to second position now being tied up with today's opponents.
However, they stood playing with a man less in 68th minute when midfielder Adeo got red carded and players of Grasshoppers exploited it and managed to reduce to 3:2 with goals from Basic and Munsy, but the hosts still sealed the victory with a man less in 90th minute from a penalty kick taken by Ziegler. Defensive midfielder Joaquim Adao (6/0) is suspended, while injured remain midfielder Birama Ndoye (1/0), right midfielder Lukas Cmelik (no performance so far), but also offensive midfielder Geoffrey Bia (5/2) and forward Ilombe Mboyo (no appearance so far).
Lausanne is playing very offensive in front of own crowd, always looking to score a goal more than their rivals. They are now fired up to get back on the winning track, but Sion seems to be in even better form at the moment. Sion looks to be in a really good form in attack and I believe three-four goals here will be scored with ease. Easier than what the odds suggest.
